  1. Sub-contractor required for forestry spraying starting April 6th 2009. Mostly Weevil spraying but will also be some chemical weeding. PA1 & PA6 essential. Grade: Foreman Strathspey, Inverness-shire & Morayshire. Please e-mail [email protected] with details of experience, qualifications held and for more information.
  2. 6 months on guaranteed quotations here but with an expiry date printed
  3. I should think he'll be well over his axle weight...
  4. It's a private heritage railway near Keith, it runs through a private estate. Didn't get to see Thomas or Percy.... they only run the trains through the summer... lots of trees round about though, took a good pounding in the snow by the looks.
  5. Chipping regen ash and sycamore earlier in the week.... Didnt get out of the way of all the whips at the ends of the stems and one whacked me good and propper right on my left bollok........ Holy **** guys, that really really hurts... I dont think i've felt pain like that for a long while now... I was actually bought to my knees cupping my balls and sobbing! Also had all the usual scratches every day, and sawdust in the eyes, nice... Chipping wild roses - thorns all over and cuts that seem really stingy
  6. Had an interesting call yesterday evening to go out to this job first thing thismorning on a private heritage railway. Interesting to say the least, most of the trees seem to be in pretty poor condition, here's hoping a new regular customer. I need to brief my groundie on taking better photos.... he always seems to miss the good shots.
  7. I'll fill you in on it all when i'm next over Stewart..
  8. Yep, thats exactly what they want - but they want me to present everything in writing and officially.
  9. It's tied into an incident that happened last weekend and could have potentially been extremely dangerous, it did not involve myself but did involve a sub-contractor working for me. Following this incident I have been advised by the director of harvesting for a large company based up here that they are requiring me to carry out an internal investigation, present to them a report detailing the findings of the investigation and then to put in place any new procedures required to make sure it does not happen again. I am also required to re do the risk assessment for this specific task and i'll also have to consider disciplinary action. Bullshit may baffle brains, but I don't need to bullshit anyone - This incident is not reportable to the HSE, but if I do not comply in a professional and concise manor I will lose my contract with this company which is not an option.. I have to take full responsibility for this incident as I am the nominated contractor, so now I have a huge can of worms and they're everywhere!!
  10. I have my own event to follow unfortunatley... but I do pay allot of interest to H & S matters, I find it quite interesting in a strange twisted way..
  11. I know that feeling.... Last time I had to have a blood test I woke up in A & E !!! Absolutley scared sh****ss of needles!!! Just feel sick and hot and then pass out like a little girl.
  12. Dean - make sure you see the doc.... septacemia is a serious problem... ultimatley it can kill you or lead to a blood transfusion or amputation.. We all get pricked by thorns etc but if it swells up then thats the first sign of septacemia, the second being alot of pain, infection, poison line etc.. Easily treated, but you might be recommended by your doc to get a tetanus jagg to boot.
  13. Does anybody have any documentation for the procedure following a major health and safety incident? I am trying to gather together an official procedure for dealing with a non compliance incident and put some sort of policy in place regarding internal investigation and findings of an investigation, and need to know how it should be presented.. Is there any kind of official way to introduce new procedures and to present reports?? any help greatly appreciated
  14. wow, looks like good fun..... you'd have to be a good operator to do that..... getting down would be the fun bit!
  15. Hmmm..... sounds like an avoidable mistake has occured to me... Let's hope the lad is ok and recovers well.
  16. Schoolboy error me thinks!!
  17. I can imagine James must love bath time - he's full of beans all the time!! Is there any way you could bribe the wee man?? The swimming pool sounds a good idea, but I know what you're saying, the poor lad sounds terrified. What's uncle Stew said??
  18. Treemotion all the way for me.... top harness. The Skylotec is also a good harness, very wel made and the leg supports are awesome, still prefer the Treemotion though. If you're after a basic and useable harness, you won't go far wrong with the weavers - dont like them personally but they seem pretty robust and functional.
  19. Stevie - has somethng happened at bath time recently, or when someone else was bathng him, has he had a bad experience with the water etc? Just wondering if he's put his head under the water and got it up his nose or something, or had cold water on his head instead of warm, something like that would really put him off having his hair washed..
  20. Ouch - this is gunna HURT tomorrow!! Stitches job??
  21. I don't do it to get the most out of the timber or anything like that, but if you've got a real nice big mature tree to drop they seem to fell really nicely with a 'smiley'. Maybe it's just me but they seem to fall harder... we were doing it allot with big spruce near Inverness flattening big heaps of brash on a windrow.
  22. Ditto but sometimes do what the guys do out in Canada and put the angled cut in the bottom, find that easier sometimes, and then line the top up.
  23. looks like an absolutley f*****g s**t job to me!!
  24. That'll keep you busy..... nice looking wood..
