  1. Brilliant; a story and relation worthy of Victor Borge!

I'm not getting replies either. Companies House shows them as live.
  4. Don't forget the pictures 😊
  5. What's the 5th pic - green leaves, purple tips? That's most unusual.
  6. It certainly is; there's a person who knows their Acers. Thanks @Bunzena: I'm moving house in less than a fortnight to a place with an acre and a half of garden and woodland. The soil is slightly acidic - Azaleas and Rhodies do well there - so Acers will definitely feature in the planting, of which there will be a lot; I want to cut the mowing down. I don't see the point of a work intensive green desert when you can plant up with trees and shrubs.
  7. Were the workmen wearing strange heavy duty trousers and did they have odd brightly coloured plastic - PLASTIC?!!! - bowls on their heads? I saw something similar around here once - 1999 I think or was it 2000...? 🥴
  8. Of the long Covid cases of which I'm aware (italics as of course I am only aware of those cases reported or known to me personally) a worringly high number seem to be young or middle aged folk and in good or excellent health; the woman Olympic rower who couldn't even run 7 months after having the bug or how about that poor Welshman on the tele the other week? 35 years old I think, will need dialysis for life if he can't get a kidney transplant, has lost the sight of one eye and had two and a half fingers amputated. That's not flu. Btw I'm not about to dive into this long debate - I'm just commenting on the one issue of long Covid.
  9. Can't help with the harness issue but really like your original post: old school climber, old school Arbtalk! 👍
  10. You were right. I was misguided 😊
  11. How To Perform An M-Tronic Reset | STIHL Blog BLOG.STIHL.CO.UK STIHL M-Tronic machines are designed to perform at their best at all times, but they sometimes need a reset. Find out... Looks like I was wrong. I'll let my dealer know 😄
  12. Flogging the saw for 5 mins is the - or at least a - Stihl reset Stubby. That's how I've reset my 241 a couple of times. I've no idea how to reset a Swede 😁
  13. Handsome bird. Sadly declining and 'vulnerable' in the wild due to habitat loss and hunting. Quelle surprise.

    Echo 7310 SX

The switch thing is trifling - I'll get used to it. I'm with you on the brand snobbery too; one reason for going Echo was simply to be a bit different - to avoid the big two, not that I have any complaints about them. I have a 2511 topper and an Echo long reach hedgetrimmer; fine machines both and easier engines to start than those of the big two. I am happy with my 7310! Thanks.

    Echo 7310 SX

Thanks for that - the technical stuff I don't do! If the saw keeps loosening a while yet I'll be very happy. 'Nothing remarkable about it' exactly reflects my professional friend's take on it but he added 'a bit agricultural' on the overall design. I think he meant simple - he is from Devon 😊 A tiny and insignificant point - isn't a small silver lever as the on/off switch a bit retro?! I still have to think about whether it's up or down for on or off.

How are you keeping Ken? I say Season's Greetings all! The saw... it's lightweight and well balanced with a 20" bar. I think it cuts very well but I leant it to a more professional friend and he reckons a 461 or 462 outdoes it. Perhaps when it's had more than half a dozen tanks of fuel through it will be better; it certainly improved after three tanks. One outstanding and less positive feature is the noise - **** it's loud! If you stand in front of it when idling the exhaust pops so loudly you almost feel you should be wearing ear defenders! My mate said that there's a minor design flaw in that he pinched flesh a couple of times between the front handle and body casing; I haven't done it - anyone else? I have no idea about comparisons with 572s, 461s etc. It doesn't keep up with my 064 but for my purposes that's no problem; the 064 is a lump bless her. But overall the saw's good value. It's early days so I suppose if it fell apart in the next months I'd change my tune but I like it and have no regrets. Sorry not to be more technical but I don't forensically examine chainsaws; I use them to cut wood!
  17. @hilltownorganics I don't think you need to be as wary of petrol engined machines as you seem to think; Honda, Briggs & Stratton etc are reliable. You say you are mainly dealing with small diameter willow brush so how about something like the machines in this range? Look at the prices! 19. Mark I had PF for nearly a year - had to cancel four people doing the West Highland Way because of it. What helped more than any insoles, boots etc were the stretches, icing the foot and gel heel pads inserted into my existing footwear. Also never walk barefoot; thick soled slippers in the house all the time. Raising the heel is more important than padding it because it eases the stretch on the plantar fascia: women - and some men! - can help the condition by wearing heels. - Silicone Support Heel Shoe Pads Gel Orthotic Plantar Care Insert Insoles Cushion WWW.EBAY.CO.UK These gel heel cushions help relieve pain caused by plantar fasciitis, heel spurs and bruised heels. 23. @Dan27 ; as an aside Tulip timber is lovely; if the tree's in good condition consider using the timber for turning or ornamental use. Not your primary concern I know - good luck with your lad - but it strikes me there could be some emotional attachment to the tree.
