  1. Just the standard 'chipper' muffs which I guess are intended for use when operating chippers ? There is a numerical coding system for levels of protection but any supplier will know what you mean by chipper muffs.
  2. I believe you. What is it?
  3. I find WRC crackles when dry too - not quite spitting. If you're getting that @DGBit would confirm openspaceman's id.
  4. Bet that stung. Ow. Unless there is some legal obligation on a hospital to inform HSE of workplace injuries along the lines of informing Police of suspected child abuse etc (and I doubt there is any such obligation) surely that hospital would be in breach of patient confidentiality if it did inform. Thankfully the medical profession's preoccupation is with people's health, not HSE compliance.
  5. That's for sure. In a couple of years that hedge will be habitat heaven as well as a darned good stock hedge.
  6. Pass. Sorry young man - I'm not with you ?
  7. It's not an evil plant though; the winter flowers are invaluable to any awakening hibernating pollinators - bees etc. So if you can leave a few...
  8. The sentimental aspect is understood but the tree's suffered a lack of maintenance; the time's long gone when it could have been contained and maintained. It's time to go.
  9. Well I don't mind it going to green waste too much if it's used for something; but there will be tons and tons of beautiful stuff going in there too. Good to hear you're turning some ?
  10. Beautiful timber; got any lumps big enough for turning? Not for me but I like to think of others! If the answer's 'it's gone for firewood' it's crap for that!
  11. Employment status: Self-employed and contractor - GOV.UK WWW.GOV.UK Employment status (worker, employee, self-employed, director or contractor) affects employment rights and employer... There are always 'probably' and 'usually' etc; little is set in stone. HMRC regard someone as having a particular status, an Employment Tribunal can have the final determination.
  12. They certainly are.
  13. Do you include Global recycling in 'usual places'? If they haven't got them they can get them for you from Belgium just as fast as current limitations allow.
  14. That's going to keep you out of mischief for a while!
  15. Good to have you back @geoff I well remember your common sense approach ?; it's sorely needed!
  16. No it won't kill it but - really?! If you're thinking of going that low pull the thing out and plant a shrub.
  17. It looks like the tree's been pollarded before at a height between the gutter and the window transom; I'd say doing the same again after the birds have had the berries would tick all your boxes. ...And every three or four years thereafter; once a pollard cycle is embarked upon it should be maintained.
  18. Use the spine of the harness end crab on your saw strop.

    Jokes???

If it does I'm having Brodick-Ardrossan in a Force 10 when I was 6 years old!
  20. So how much would it cost you to enter the LEZ? The ULEZ is £15 a day and the Congestion Charge zone £12.50. I've lived 6 miles from Old Oxted for 23 years and know of no other such green waste site in the area I'm afraid. The nearest I do know is near Horsham I think but I can't remember details. I suppose you could try getting a quote from an outfit such as Surrey green waste collection - The Recycling People Surrey RUBBISHCLEARANCESURREY.ME.UK inexpensive green waste collection in CR5 . The Recycling People Abinger Common Ltd offer 24/7 fuss free green...
  21. If you need anyone closer to Sussex just ask Steve; the county's about 8 miles away at its closest point!
  22. Greenwaste Recycling & Landscaping | Highams WWW.HIGHAMSFARM.COM ~7 miles travelling for you. A really user friendly site; acres of flat concrete with large bays, all with full width front access.

    Jokes???

  24. Yes, the Harkie is warm; mine's not very pleasant to be near. Not good for climbing I would think as you need it loose fitting to be able to get it on and off over your head.
