  1. I spent a year working with wild ocelots, margays, jaguarundis and jaguars. We trapped, released and tracked cats and rehabilitated ones who had been caught when really young. The guy I worked for had been tracking radio collered cats for 7 years before he saw a wild one and he knew where to look. They could survive here without being seen, but would they would leave tracks. Id be more convinced by photographs of footprints than a quick glimse of a cats like shape. I also know from experience that your mind always exagerates the size of cats when you see them up.close.without bars.
  2. Do they not believe in an afterlife?
  3. Any religion is based on the belief that you have a soul. If believe you have a soul you need to choose a religion or make up your own ideals. I don't care what people believe so long as they don't try to impose their ideals on others. None of us are going to find out for real until we die, so no point fighting over it
  4. Does that make you an animist rather than an atheist?
  5. Chains didn't look tricky to use, its just that they are both the same length, so you need to do a few wraps or half hitch to shorten one side to balance. Your lifts looked very smooth.
  6. Good job marc. I've never seen that vertical step cut used on a crane job before, does that help reduce the saw getting stuck? Also I'm interested to the hear why you use chains on the smaller sections? Do you find it harder balance horizontal sections with chains? Where was the 2nd climber, were you both in the tree?
  7. What I did was to export all files to squared 5 in 1 batch. It then gives you the whole job in an avi format. Then open Windows movie maker and edit with that programme
  8. I was thinking of an alpine butterfly clipped back onto the dropping line with a couple of krabs. That way you don't need to feed rope through a knot
  9. Was badly decayed, but reducing it meant the hollow stem could remain. Glad Chris.is still.with you. Say hi from me and chopper.
  10. Was asked today if I would fell a tree with a tree house in it and a person inside. When I stopped laughing he went nuts and said if I liked to laugh I should try @#@ing his sister. It had to be a wind up.
  11. Sore. Still working with Chris then? How is he?
  12. Nice rigging. Thanks for showing the top anchor
  13. Some man sized lumps there Tom.
  14. Yeah its a bit weird when you haven't used one for a while. I used to use them about once every 6 weeks, but the work hasn't called for it lately. Just go easy to start with and don't get too over confident. Pay attention to the position of the hook above your main sling, that's where I messed up!!!
  15. Thanks guys I was pleased with how it went. I used a go pro, converted the files to avi using squared 5 video converter then edited with Windows movie maker. I don't have any photos but the estate workers took loads so I will ask for a couple and put them on.
  16. This is the 1st crane job I've done for about a year. I made some mistakes, got the saw stuck a couple of times and i badly positioned the boom on a piece which slid back above me. I thought I'd leave it in rather than edit it out. It was supposed to be a felling job, but we managed to persuade them to reduce instead, not least for the owl who lives in the cavity. 17. Anyone free in the exeter area this week? Climber or ground worker.
  18. I use a petzel and don't Like it. They are designed to use on steep slopes. I used some red and black groved ascender, maybe a cmi, ten years ago. They are much better for climbing vertically.
  19. Yes. I love that winch. Just craned down a huge lime today so going to have to look at that footage next
