  1. Id like to try that but with the pipe shaped like a hand ascender
  2. Hey John, weldone on getting through the aaac. Does that mean you got some new boots? Did you get that software from Quentin? I didnt get around to emailing him.

  3. Had a few call Rob, and spoke to a couple of good guys but they were either busy for a while or too far away for regular work. We need another experienced guy who can prune nicely and knows how to take big trees down safely and need them soon. My mate runs another AAAC firm locally and they cant find any decent guys at the moment either. I thought there was a shortage of jobs?
  4. Looking for an experienced climber for an average 2 to 4 days a week. Paye or self employed. Varied work, must have up to date lowler. Pm or call Mat on 07968741251
  5. I admire your skill. I can't believe anyone would pay a day and a halfs work to prune a cypress. What was that 3 man days? You could have felled it for half the price.
  6. Glad things are working out for you. Good luck
  7. Luciano is like a god down there!
  8. Thanks. I have loads of footage on the computer I will do something else with it when I have time. This isnt tree related but is a clip of the street art project "Wide Open Walls" which is now an annual event in the same villages. 9. Its called Julbrew mate and its good. As long as the generator is working it comes out ice cold and goes down real quick
  10. Thanks for the interest in the video. I can answer comments properly in a couple of weeks when I'm back again. If anybody is interested in doing something like this then pm me for details, or wait untill my friend whos been working with me on this post something, which I'm sure he will
  11. I use the Trupulse and it does seem to accurately measure heights at a great distance. Picks up objects much further away than a laserace when we had both on the same site. Not sure it measures the 1000m range it claims too.
  12. A short video clip of some trees we climbed this year as part of a voluntary project we have been working on at Makasutu [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27xv0NVYz2M&feature=plcp]Tree climbing in Africa 2012 - YouTube[/ame]
  13. I think you need to look at it the other way round. You should think how much am I worth? This is in comparison to how much work you can do compared with other free lance guys in the same area. If other guys charge £100 and your twice as quick you should get heaps of work at £175. If you no quickker than the other guy you'll never get a peny more as long as he isnt booked up. I was stopped subby climbing 4 or 5 years ago and was chargingg £175 to £250 a day depending on who I was working for and how much kit I was providing. At that rate it was repeat companies only as my rates were double most others. No one would pay that unless they were familiar with you already and are happy that youll do a good job in half the time as their next best option
  14. Convert the files to avi using squared five software. Its free to Fownload
  15. Sounds good. Been to California but not for work. Saw loads of work around though. If it were me travelling I would take my own harness a few little bits and some prussic cord. Ropes are way to heavy so is Ppe.travel light.
  16. That's good news as we felled and logged one today and ground the stump right out too.
  17. I doubt it will affect the house. The roots will lift the slabs bot not the house bricks.
  18. I used 14mm polypropylene before I could afford a rigging kit and took some quite big trees down on it. No good on a porta wrap as it will twist up like mad, you need trunk wraps or redirect through some branches. I still natural crotch rig all the time for the odd small branch and 3 strand is ideal.

High standard of work as always Reg Im jealous of that weather. Your not missing much sun in the UK this summer
  20. Wow. I'm sorry that sounds awfull. I used to give blood but haven't for a few years now. I'm going to start doing it again Congratulations
  21. I lived worked in Costa Rica for a couple of years in the late 90s/early 00s, and spent most of my time based in Playa Dominical. Over recent weeks, the municipal had tried to "improve" the beech frontage by felling all the Palms and Indian Almond trees at the top of the beech so they could build a concrete boulevard When the diggers rolled in last week they were met with strong opposition from the tree hugging locals who blocked the diggers access to the trees. A friend of mine has been fighting hard against the development, which at the moment has been halted. The Police who were moving the protesters on are now back helping to replant the trees that have been torn down. My mate has shown me these photos if your interested
