  1. You familiar with the trees David? How come? I expect they will need work again, I'd like to think not for a fair while yet. Lots of fungal activity, but I'm confident they will respond we'll.
  2. Thanks. Tipping and topping is my line of work
  3. A crown reduction of 2 Holm Oaks a few weeks ago. Started working on these trees 7 years ago, at which time there was almost no internal growth to reduce to. We thinned these trees 3 times over 7 years to get a decent framework for the reduction. This time around we reduced the trees by 3m in height and 2-3m from lateral branches along with removing whole stems which failed to develop new shoots from thinning works. I estimate that we took 2000 to 2500kg of material from each tree. Photos before, during and after and the timber removed. Chips stayed on site.
  4. I need to update our generic risk assessment to include airspade works. Has anybody else done this whos willing to share?
  5. Hope your on good money over there reg with all those big trees and long days
  6. Nice big tree there. As rich said your groundy could have let the Timber run out more. No reason for those logs to be stationary at all once you've cut them off. Couple of bits of thick ply on the path and he could have raced them down

Too young to comment on her policies. I am disgusted that they are spending 5 mil of tax payers money on her funeral. Looking at the guest list I believe they can afford to pay for their own party with a quick whip round from their pocket change. don't see why we should foot the bill
  8. From the world of Facebook. Thought it was worth sharing here
  9. Nice call out job this week. Stunt fell of the largest yew I've taken down. Had a 10 foot and 6 foot section of main stem and 2 trailer loads of millable branches and sticks for turning. Hardly any shake and lovely timber
  10. Good work for somebody who's only been climbing a short time.
  11. I've gone from a six day a week balls out sub contract climber to an occaisonal climber. I tend to get my harness on about once a month, but its often for a full on dismantle, rarely do I work on small trees anymore I think once you have perfected your core skills its easy to get back into as long as your fitness is still good
  12. "Virgin timber is of the type from forestry works or virgin wood processing such as wood off cuts, shavings or sawdust from sawmills or timber product manufacture dealing in virgin timber or cuttings and brash from tree felling or other forestry management operations. From our discussion you confirmed that this is the kind of wood you would be dealing with. Virgin timbers are not waste and will not be subject to waste regulatory controls provided that they are certain to be used for the purposes to which virgin wood is commonly put. These uses include use as woodchip in gardens or on pathways, as a raw material for composting, as animal bedding, as fuel in an appliance or as a raw material for the production of wood based products or in paper production. However, if virgin timber is mixed with waste timber, it will all be classed as waste. "
  13. I have written conformation from ea that we do not need a waste carriers licence now. That's one less expense
  14. I have 2 sisters, a half brother, half sister, adopted sister and 2 kids. All siblings except youngest sister have at least 2 kids. 6 family members are in tree work and we do come from Romany gypsies on dads side. First time in 11 years we all got together last night ( except brother who's over seas) so got quite a hang over now
  15. The final reduction will be about 50% of overall height and spread. Every 2 years we have been thinning by reducing back branches which have growth at final height. Through thinning more internal growth has developed. The intention has been to reduce branches back to final desired height in one hit rather than repeated pruning the same branches. I' ll get some photos for you
  16. I gues that could work. Risk is that as you start to remove whole stems the remaining ones are more prone to snapping out through increased exposure. We have worked on several phased reductions. Week after Easter we are doing the final phase of a reduction to 2 veteran holm oaks. It's taken 7 years of selected thinning and reducing to develop an internal crown to reduce to.
  17. That's how all decent people think
  18. I'm glad the world is big enough that I probably will never meet you le sanglier. You sound like a miserable knob
  19. Good video, you got anymore lined up? What sling do you have on the block?
