    Fir over wires

    Nice careful work.
  3. Thanks, I watched all of that. There a great book by John Perkins called.confessions of an economic hit man. It's all about globalisation and modern day slavery. Worth a read if your interested
  4. Banking the greatest scam on earth
  5. YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.
  6. 3 apples. Never tried this before. Do you think there will be enough cambium on the lifted bark or should I try to chisel out a thin slice of.stem wood?

  7. Thanks for the link this morning

  8. 15 to 30cm. I'm thinking of waiting until they come into leaf so I know the cambium is dividing. Will the cambium lift off with a strip of bark, or should I try to chissel off a thin slice of the stem tissue too so I know I have cambium tissue?
  9. I have a job where we need to.try to repair some recently ring barked trees. Anyone.have any.advice or done this before?
  10. Re direct it through a shackle then tension on another tree out the way. I've used double pulley held on prussik and porta wrap and on a grcs. If you use a grcs wind it up, then take the rope off the fair lead and tender clamp. Hold the tension on by hand to save the device getting all bent or broken
  11. Lee beat me too the pipeline. I heard recently that Iraq is as much about water as oil. I believe some rivers essential to agriculture in neighbouring countries begin there. It's seen as a.strategic location to hold in the region hence why the us have been after it for years.

    Baby names!

We found it best not to discuss baby names too much before they are born. No one ever agrees so when you think you have a good one somebody always makes you doubt it. We have 2 girls, but if either had been a boy we would have called him Sulley

    SJ work climb

Dunno mate. All I do is squared 5 the clips then use movie maker. Do you save it as hd? I never used imovie but windows gives you the option to publish the movie in different definitions, I just choose the highest.
  14. That's it. I'm getting an Alaskan mill this summer

    SJ work climb

Cool, quick around the tree. What editing software do you use?
  16. Thanks for posting that
  17. Your right tony. I couldn't.have used woodchip in the garden and access.was no good for.a.lorry. I had been booked to work on the estate that week but only knew it was this tree the week before. I didn't have a plan as to exactly how.I.would take it.down untill I was up.there. I did think I.might be dropping lumps and had intended to get an old tractor tyre before hand but didn't have time. I.was.aware of the ground.damage but I.was putting myself before the other trees this.time. good point and worth making, Im going to try to.scrounge some big old tyres for the next time we have a similar situation. When are we going to see a hama vid?
  18. Ha, ha. We smashed a 200t today so you'll be getting that in the morning Barry.
  19. Thanks to.every who commented on the video. I used a go pro 960. Thanks for the compliment Reg, means something coming.from you. To be honest I'm with.Steve, I normally skim videos too cos I have the attention span of a knat. I did think that most of my videos are a bit similar, wham bam thankyou mam style. Maybe next time I will.go edit it up.a bit slower. Everyone who mentioned the groundy are bang on. I've had the same guy running the rigging for.5.years and he has the grcs nailed. Without him I could not have done the job that way. He's not into tree geeking after work so I will.pass on the regards. Maybe on the right job I will.give him the camera. The 2nd groundy did ok seeing as he is our new apprentice and it was his 1st.day on the job. Atree, we were running the rigging straight down the northofagus to a pulley at ground.level the redirecting with a couple.of pulleys to the grcs on the chestnut. For the verticle.speedline.we swithched the bottom pulley for a.shackle the tensioner the line.on the rigging winch. Sorry for all.the full stops, sausage fingers and phones don't mix. Oh and Ian, I have to admit I did.enjoy returning.to finish that thing off. It might have won the 1st battle but we won the.war.
  20. Big winch and it it doesn't go just leave the winch cranked up for a few hours
  21. That beech is ready to go. I think if he puts the job off a week or it will fell itself
  22. I.didn't see the video 1st time. No way I would climb that.
  23. Can you give it a tug with a winch?
