Good.stuff, I really enjoy making vids, although my wife thinks.I'm.a total geek. love the gopro quality. I've lost some.bits for.my camera.so I'm going to.upgrade to a gopro in the new year. You had a chance to work with Chris yet?
  3. Nice. I would have climbed that too. Sorts the men from the boys a horible tree like that does.
  4. A Birch I reduced by 2m and thinned a bit earlier this week. Just opposite is a Eucy we reduced in August. Ive reduced both trees 3 times in the last 8 years.
  5. No mate, I was working on privately organised projects.
  6. I was there for 2 years but not always doing tree work. I was building zip wire canopy tours, hanging temporary research platforms and taking small groups of tourists tree climbing. Was mainly Costa Rica but got to go to panama, Colombia and Nicaragua too.
  7. That's a good idea Steve, I will.remember that one. Have you ever got all tangled.up doing that?
  8. Working abroad is always cool, but climbing in the rain forest is hard to beat. For play I think you would find it hard to top anywhere in Latin America during carnival week.
  9. Work hard, be polite. When your busy take care of the people who give you work when you need it. Save the extra dough you earn to set your self up something to do when your getting tired
  10. Glad you like my pictures. I've seen some of your pruning photos on here and your works good too.
  11. Reg is still da man. Whats up Reg, British trees to small for you these days?
  12. Depends on the size of the crane. Ive paid from £170 plus vat for 25t for half day to £550 plus vat for a 60t all day with our regular company. 1st crane job I ever did was a 90t and I think that was about £700. All our work has been crane hire. When I enquired about contract lift with 2 firms I was told they could not do this for tree work as the slinging is part of the contract lift. As the tree guy is slinging, balancing and pre tensioning before cutting the crane company can not undertake that part of the job as they would with any other contract lifting works. Since then its been hire only all the way supported by a method statement and RA. There are cheaper firms about, but personally I would only want to work with a crane driver who knows what hes doing. Safety should be the 1st consideration before price.
  13. Yeah thats him. I'm glad he has found work so quick and I hope it works out for him. Say Hi and tell him he never collected his stinking old boots before he left.
  14. Good video. I'm going to get a go pro soon. It looks a bit bigger than the drift, does it make your helmet feel funny?
  15. Is that including clearing up? That's bloody quick
  16. Nice vid, short and sweet. Is that rigging line sirius?
  17. This happen to me ob a large leaning sweet chestnut once and I broke 3 ribs. The slipping of my side strop knot allowed the lump of wood enough slack to fall free. The piece of wood was about a ton so if I had a steel strop and grab I could have been killed.
  18. I liked that. The more I watch you videos the more it seems like you work this way because your trying to avoid working from rope.and harness. When can I see a video of you climbing and rigging a big tree?
  19. Whats dirty tricks have customers pulled to try to get a freebie from you? Last week we had a little job to do pruning back an Ash tree which was overhanging some garages. I told our client we would do it 1st thing one morning and it would take a few hours. We had a call out that day so did not get there untill 1.30. The garage belongs to another person. He called my client at 11 oclock to complain that we had broken the asbestos roof. I guess he was at work and thought we'd be done by then. Thing is we didnt even get there for 2 and a half hours after he had reported it. The roof was already broken and the facia boards all rotten and falling off. I think he was trying to get a new garage roof for free at my expense. What a peasant!
  20. Just another short section of rope tied to the rigging line. Think I used a blakes hitch on that job.
  21. Sorry paul, ive been on the tools since then. Ill send it tomorrow when im at home. Ian, glad you think its good. Its a lot cheaper and quicker than cad. Ive lost the option to add different layers, now. Can you see how to do that?
  22. Got to say that worked well. I will be impressed if you can do that again but over a significant object like a building or one of your trucks.
  23. No name, just have a plan we are trying to make work. Id rather not say where it is online. Because it would be the first of this kind of thing in that area its potentially a.big deal for the reserve. If the trip next year goes.well.there will be more to tell.
