  1. I lived and worked in latin america working on a conservation project and also in the construction of comercial tree clibing tours, canopy platforms, ziplines, etc. I ended up getting involved a few years ago in under taking a feasibility study on the potwntial to build similar facilities in west africa to help finance a nature resevre/culture forest. Its not paid work his time though but its always fun
  2. Will you show me yours if I show you mine?
  3. Why is man highlighted in bold?
  4. Well said. I'm not a fan of 1 handed chainsaw use because I know people who have cut arms, legs, shoulders and throats all using a climbing saw one handed. I've not cut myself but have fallen from trees and broken my ribs up a tree. Fact is if you don't want to get busted up dont do this work. If you want to play with chainsaws and swing around in trees then expect some wear and tear
  5. "Never used it. Whats the mapping like for creating scales at A4? Or a nice picture would do. " Scaling is easy as long as you have a known measurement to work from. You add overlays to an existing pdf map, but can also add pop ups with additional info like work specs for trees or CEZ info, whatever. There is a free 30 day trial version which I have been using but I think I will buy the software. Could email you a pretty picture if you want
  6. The sling that secures the top block will be subject to twice the static load on your line. That load will be much greater as soon as your dropping tops. If your asking that question you really need to get some training before you use the pulley.
  7. Anyone using bluebeam pdf editor for producing tcps and tpps? Ive been using this for the last few projects as im a novice with cad. Bluebeam seems to do all i need and very easy to.use. Anyone else using this programme? Have you had any problems with this i need to be aware of?
  8. Just checked my youtube account and I have 24 subscibers. I've had fun making these vids but had to stop because I lost some bits for the camera, which is a shame as we've had loads of big removals latelty I think I will upgrade to the go-pro soon, as I have some climbing work to do Africa in February and would like to get some of that on film too. Anyways heres the link tomy youtube if you want to take a look. MrMingthemercyless's Channel - YouTube
  9. That was nicely done. I can see that you.are putting more thought into where your slinging the limbs as well to make things run smoother. Definately see the improvement from your.earlier vids (not that there was anything wrong with them), some people never get as good at rigging as you seem too be already. Looking forward to.you.filming a nice big takedown. Mat
  10. Good work there. Got anymore work coming up worth filming?
  11. Well that makes you a bit of a geek then. I feel like a twit with just one on my lid
  12. That will be my Xmas present then. You can really tell the difference in the quality of your videos.
  13. I can't find the clip for the helmet or the wrist controller. Looks like its going to be soaking wet too. How much is the go pro camera? I might upgrade they look loads better than the drift.
  14. I like your style Ian, very imaginative. Makes me want to do another video. I have a big beech to take down tomorrow, just wish I could find my helmet.camera.
  15. Yeah its the solinoids, had 3 go in the last 3 weeks. What's the answer?
  16. That's exactly what it was. Josh, its a.husky superwinch. It's not really meant for tree work and packed in a few times on the job
  17. The site is right in the middle of a residential area and most of them will be retired, there no way we could pull that off without really upsetting the natives.
  18. Feels like we've been on this job forever. 20 something Lawson Cypress were at the bottom of this steep feild. We had to fell them then winch them upto 200m across the bank with a winch tractor without letting them slide into the gardens directly behind. Next they have to be spun around then winched down another slope, processed and taken out between 2 gate posts. Thankfully I've done my bit there, the lads should be finished up by Friday
  19. I got all of it from sherril. I got 2 spare straps for it after one got torn on some barbed wire. I still have one if you ever need one. it was a pain in the arse to find them so.I bought 2
  20. Yeah its easy to forget about the size of the stem its anchored to. I've cracked a stem by winching lots on it.
  21. Hey john, you just need to play with it and get a feel for the thing. If you don't have a visor for it then its worth getting one. Also get some.spare rubbers for the mount, its not always easy to fix it too funny shape trees so they do get chewed up. A big bucket is good for the rope too when your winching, as you can just feed the rope.back into the bucket to.keep it clean.
  22. Might last a bit longer though. The old isc pulleys never lasted me long. Lucky to get 12 months before they get all wobbly and go in the junk box
  23. I've worked in park homes several times and its like any job where you work in one place and probably invoice somewhere else. You will wait a few weeks before you see any money.
