  3. I'm am not technical in any way, I have no idea how heavy I piece of timber is and what forces are put on it KN as it falls , so I always use the strongest stuff I have got and don't push my luck. I don't work in a big team so it's no beneficial to lower huge lumps. Now crashing them down, that's diferent 😃
  4. size 10's here! first stick is 40m long, second is about 25m. felled a biggr larch Stem forgot to take picture of hinge though
  5. it doesnt move much that machine if its the 1 i think at the Hiab place
  6. Ed just make sure the slings are strong enough, sounds like you are thinking too much about it with only theory behind your thoughts. Boss man has his own company for a reason.
  7. as long as its tight you are good to go, ive never lost a bit. personally if its not big enough to warrant a sling, i cut n chuck it onto a brash mat or dumpy bag full of stuff. When it comes down to it, you are incharge of what you cut off the tree as a climber, if you are not happy with what is provided then discuss with the boss and take it from there. If you have never done it with slings then you need to try it so you have a valid arguement.
  8. slings all the way, forget all your bend radius theories, its a time thing , they are quick and simple to use and slings are a lot tougher and last longer, they can take a good amount of abuse aswell.
  9. big skidder is 30 ton, it got weighed by the haulier 2 weeks ago before delivery. added extras are 30 ton capacity winch, double drum igland winches on boom, extended arms for blade and all wheels are full of water as ballast.
  10. Can i tow a 3 ton digger with a 3 ton dumper on the road?
  11. i have the scagg, built like a tank and had no problems in over 3 years
  12. Nice tractor Jimmay and great holder aswell RDB!!
  13. no need, he has 1 and is only 45 minutes from me:thumbup1: I do fancy a forwarder though:biggrin:
  14. I had to google that big word, the owner isnt big headed or niether does he need to exagerate. He is very humble even when there are 9 tree guys praising his machine. If the 30ton isnt the correct weight then i must of picked him up wrong.
  15. thought i wrote Spunge Bob there for a second
  16. send them to Spud Bob!! simples!
