  1. No I never have, was it just like when you put on a new jumper or was it a bigger shock?
  2. The change in tools and working methods does ill evictee things and getting a hand helps a lot too as has been said! Since starting a Groundie 3 months ago my sore left tendinitis and righ shoulder are all fixed, and I have a little back handled 150 and it's brilliant! I've been using it to sned out Largs Sitkas, it is really slow but so light it's worth the wait! I did my left wrist in yesterday using the 026 above waist level undercutting wind blow! So back to the little Angry Wasp it is! I am now on digger and dumper duties for the rest of the week so that gives the body a good rest from the saw and chipping!
  3. That's a work of art! Brilliant!
  4. It depends, if I have to bring others in on and job is risks losing more on time so I will cancel a day if everyone involved is ok with that! If my feet and hands are warm I can suffer a fare bit if they get cold then I'm running for the heaters!
  5. That's what you took out of that? Seriously not surprised though, all you can do on here is antagonise a situation and it's not the first time you have had a go at me! Go and troll somewhere else:sneaky2:
  6. Maybe not stop doing them overnight as we do have bills to pay but a little at a time and planning for our future and our families. It's ok for us to eat some brufen and man up but when our bodies get to the point we can't earn and we haven't changed or adapted is a better word then the people that love us and we provide for suffer. I used to think I couldn't change, then I thought what if I had an accident and the choice was removed for me, what would I do then also I am my own man I am an adult and I was doing things I didn't want to do but felt I should! So it took a few years and a lot of people who used to manipulate me having a strop and that's hard to deal with when I was always and still am and aim to please type person but when you look at who is really the very important ones in your life that ask for nothing in return but your time and ask how your day was, every day, every night then I realised, the jobs, the hedges, the problem customers, the pretend friends, the family members that only wanted things their way then, I changed. Learn to say no again! If it hurts, stop it, simples
  7. The only real cure is to stop doing the things that cause it! Prevention is better than cure! The guys have covered all the remedies and things that help a bit.
  8. When people have to make desicions under pressure, they are going to use their own Morals! That's not a rule, that's not right or wrong. As a company owner you have to have policies to which your employees follow. These need discussed before employment at the interview stage. You may of had a bad day, you may of had a good day, the person in question may be the golden boy they may be the useless guy! If it's the useless guy then expectations are of laziness so on the flip side the good worker gets penalised when they need something in return from the employer. If the climber needs to go and the tree isn't finished and you have 4 guys on site well that's a pita. The are rules of employment out there you need to follow whether you are a 1 man band or Tescos! It's that simple, it's not a moral dilemma!
  9. Get some anti histamen asap mate
  10. It's only a weak point once the tree is neglected! that tree is never going to be a danger or an ornamental pride and joy in the garden! It's a roll the turd in glitter scenario unless you are doing a micro scopoic timber rotation harvest type thing for a chiminea. Pollarding is an agricultural method from the days gone by. If you go to Old villages in Italy you can see some amazing trees at the side of old houses. They basically grow firewood. It's brilliant, big ugly unbalanced, rotten, fallen over trees that as long as there is still a bit in the ground just keeps on growing.
  11. didnt think gardeners got £14k a year!
  12. Very nice!
  13. Not the phone, just between workers on site.
  14. Source a local highly recommended Ostio, go and see them. If it's an operation you need then it's back to the NHS if not follow their advice! I've spent thousands over the years on Private Ostios, I've went weeks without working due to injury, if I need money and can't earn it I sell something I have. If they tell you you can't do manual labour then look to do something else. Good luck
  15. Yes Al thats the name of them, I couldn't remember ! They just don't last living on a helmet ! I will have a look at them, cheers!
  16. Cut the crown in half, simply cut the half dozen verticals stems and let nature fill it it in, then go back next year and cut the wispy ends back 3 ft, go back the next year and start taking out the thicker stems which are now being replaced by the new growth. after 3-4 years they will have a bushy lollipop! If they are happy with this end result you could just propose to cut it to a 6' pole in the first place and they will have a better lower down version in 2 years with no attempt at being all pretend caring for trees. I tell people it will never be a lovely little tree again, that ship has sailed! The day you put a saw into a tree that isn't a felling cut you will always have to go back and put a saw into a tree. The other very simple way to determine which management plan is best is ask how much they want to spend, that usually cuts to the chase
  17. I have used these for about 8 years now, I'm on my second pair, I have found they are quite poorly made, my last set were a few hundred quid I think, worked great but after a few months packed in, so I got them sent away and fixed, they packed in again and have been on the shelve for about 4 years now. I really need something as I have a new lad and I'm usually in a machine. What are people using now? Are they tougher? I don't want radios, I need noise cancellation and Bluetooth! Cheers
  18. So you do your VTA's from the car at 70mph! Now it makes sense!
  19. If it's in Europe then it will be a dedicated machine I reckon, no messing about over there!
  20. I fancy a cone splitter for my 3 tonner to save back ache. I don't sell logs but I do plenty of horrible big Sitkas that customers would want split up if I wanted the task. Any input valued!
  21. So would a wheel barrow and loppers Ti!
  22. Really? Is that due to the risk of your southern sun scorch
  23. Now that was worth a fast forward watch
  24. David would you recommend a reduction even if the tree that was removed wasn't facing SW?
