  1. Cordwood :001_rolleyes: Cordwood is the vine that tarzan swings on.
  2. I'm going to start an anti-cordwood club It's such a dumb term and for some reason makes me really angry
  3. It still is friggin roundwood. I raised a thread before bemoaning the stupid term. The term cordwood should be BANNED. :cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing::angryfire::angryfire::angryfire::angryfire::bluboomteamenforcer:bluboomteamenforcer:devil-smiley-017::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
  4. With food colouring for paint
  5. Husky bar?! VERY unlikely; Esso not to blame...
  6. They are lovely but v expensive and useless in small tall timber where the stick is barely big enough to accomodate a guide bar behind the gob.
  7. This is a quote from an article in the latest Forestry Journal: "A crowded marketplace and the proliferation of those recently certificated and fresh from college, but with no real business experience... The problem is that colleges are churning out kids with a romantic idea of what it will be like to be a tree surgeon and make it in this industry, but they have no experience in running a business and lack the work ethic. Because there are so many tree surgeons, there is a lot of undercutting. It reduces peoples' perception of how hard our job is. We don't want to compete in that environment. We don't need to compete in that environment. There are so many guys out there with a truck and a chipper..." Source: Forestry Journal. March 2014. Volume XX No.3. ISSN 1756-3275.
  8. There are chip boiler installers on here, whom you call idiots. However I do agree that hardwood should be robustly diverted from biomass use. The pic attached is of 600 ton of oak and beech destined to be chipped; flippin nuts imo and not economically sound either. Very hard on the chipper, the contractor will be putting a premium on that job and rightly so. Different experience here. Hauliers like the cashflow advantages of fitting in firewood drops in between mill runs.
  9. Just seen these advertised on here. I knew there was something like an acrow-prop around but boy, the grief this would have saved me hand cutting over the past few years; unthinned stands, drawn timber, mild back-lean needing more shove than a felling bar and less hassle than a sledge and wedge in small wood... Dear Santa (this is the first time I've wanted something work related for Christmas!).... Tree-Jack Felling Tool | OrionHeating.co.uk
  10. yeah but they cant PDI a saw to save their lives.
  11. EH + Unwinder + Remote = you get the chokers and end of winch cable with its sliders over your shoulder, press feed-out on the remote and walk at a pace that matches the out-feed as far as is possible. When u reach the sticks (or need a breather) let go of the outfeed button on the remote, choker up, get out of the way (or out of the triangle if redirecting) and press feed-in on the remote while keeping an eye on the tractor. The rest should be obvious. So u can winch alone.
  12. Ref your link above; I would agree R&T best place to buy an echo as well as best price.
  13. Trouble is the account above about dust and slivers is the exact same as a.n.other heizohack near here has troubles with. That makes it too high a risk to take. Plenty of others to consider.
  14. EH with powered outfeed the way to go imo. Winching is hard work; make it as easy as possible = production goes up.
  15. BS!!! You've spread this message throughout on Arboristsite.com and now you're trying it here. Please, give it a by would you. You hate anything that isn't husky. Echo probably more than any other company, DO know how to port 2-cycle engines properly; ported to run sweet and last well, not shake themsleves to bits with stratospheric power ouputs (on paper ). Furthermore you can exploit that porting later as it would seem a serious chunk of hot-saw racers do (oh how inconvenient of me to mention that). You need a trip to kioritz (echo) factory in Japan to see the blood, sweat and tears they put into 2-cycle engines. Kioritz and Kawasaki - the finest in the world. http://www.arboristsite.com/community/threads/dolmar-ps-5105-good-or-bad.134379/
  16. This is what I'd heard about heizohacks aswell so don't think they're going to be considered.
  17. That's sad.
  18. I wonder why?
  19. I'm surprised G50 is as desirable as G30; thought it was too coarse for many augers and with 100mm, stray 200mm shards were a real risk..?
