  1. No worries just makes me nervous when people are chogging down with just the single anchor sweet job though
  2. I did the same thing on my first day of work experience:blushing: i panicked and didn't want the to jam on the brakes and before i knew it i was up the bank at the edge of the road. Luckily a jcb was round the corner to get me back on all four wheels and back to work, all that was broke were indicators and rear window phew
  3. Awesome vid and cracking photos, i think the pics help give an idea of the scale. Just one thing when felling out some sections were you tied in twice or just with your side lanyard?
  4. I was just about to start a thread about this as have recently purchased the imori and am running ocean poly which im really impressed with once set up right although cant get it to self tend. Im used to yale xtc 12 which i think is about 13 mm so having a smaller diameter is something new to get used to. looking forward to the responses
  5. Are we allowed to phone the dealers to find out prices yet?
  6. The 08 defender does have possible transmission problems think its a certain batch as my friend has had new gearbox and other things done. Also correct me if im wrong but i thought that landrovers had the best mpg compared to some japanese things. Oh and i love my landy so bias opinion but get a landy
  7. Actually it only says that straight fells are free having to climb still comes at a cost
  8. Normally twists if your using both ends i find that a good size tree make sure you drop one end and that should take them out or just lay it out in a long line and coil up as you normally would and you can sometimes see the rope untangling
  9. Trying not to derail please give abuse if i have done but for you guys that sell firewood do you find there are more people out there as in customers with their moisture meters and stuff. Just from what it seems as a firewood spectator, a lot of people are jumping on the wood burner band wagon (and why not im mostly jealous as my current house wont suit one) and so the sales people of the burners are drumming in/educating what % moisture should be and so whats been previously said people are getting fussy, whereas long time customers just know whats good and what they need. Just something i have been wondering please reply or tell me to sod off and start my own thread
  10. I think that the cs 39 course would ideally be at least a day longer but with the competitiveness of different training providers trying to give the best price/value for money will always be difficult. As for work position i think there is only so much that can be trained, the best way to learn good work position is experience or "on the job" training supervised by more experienced climbers which is generally what happens once people get their certs anyway. I think that training one handed use would not benefit trainees as they would still have to technically get into a "good" work position to carry out the one handed use safely and so they may as well learn to do things the safest way first.
  11. My friend has this issue with a few customers complaining about when the logs are delivered wet after a brief spell of rain. I would just hope that they would have the sense to a, order before they have run out of logs and b, any fresh ordered logs they have in are drying next to the fire instead of grabbing them as and when. On to your question i would just suggest to them to have them next to the fire to help them out a bit. Before anyone jumps on me i will admit i dont sell logs or have a fire although its what i would do.
  12. I will second that awesome service ordered in the afternoon and arrived the next day cheers guys although i forgot to order a cambium saver will be using you again, thanks
  13. All that weight saving must be a few more chippings on the back
  14. Try this place Overland - Services and Products for the Utility & Public Sectors such as Forestry, Civil Engineering, and all aspects of Utility Support, including Specialist Utility vehicle design & build not sure if they do older vehicles but they do the extended cab meaning more leg room:thumbup:

  16. poplar down to 30ft would be a pollard? Not trying to sound argumentative been stuck inside painting the kitchen so very bored
  17. I dont think it will be as bad as people being able to clear fell and build as there would most likely be something in the sale not allowing this also they would have to apply to the fc for felling licenses anyway which would not allow it (well i can hope)
  18. Try cutting edge they are based in winchester and have a good size carlton remote control tracked jobby
  19. Interesting stuff guys I have gone down the route of an older vehicle with no VAT so will prob be staying as is. I was looking at motors which would have been 2-3grand vat and might have made a good "saving" of sorts along with other tools. but now im going for something else wont be worth the bother, still interesting hearing you guys experiences
