  1. Yeah basically paper 1 is science 2 is personnel and management this paper is things like legislation for personnel and can include financial side of business and the paper 3 is law. I sat the course last year i was the random person sat at the front of the room for paper 2 and 3. Back to you doug i would say it would be helpful to try and get some sort of background reading in before the course maybe ask the course tutor to recommend a book list as i feel this would help. Also try and go for an actual course you can attend one day a week if possible as a friend of mine has just done the same course over the internet and i just feel it helps to be among other students as it can be easier to bounce ideas of each other but just my opinion. I cant fully remember many of the questions as my brain went into melt down but there was a question relating to the plant health act and the forestry act for instance state 10 exemptions for a felling licence. sorry its not a lot to go on will try and dig out a previous question if you like?

  14. thought heli loggers was a bit boring after the first few just same thing each episode ie will they get the trees topped and jigged ready for the chopper with only minutes to spare. Have to say though some quality sized tops they knock off even with a topper reckon they must use 15 or 16 inch bars?

  21. the hole that it was in was seperate to a hole further down, as i took a chog off the entrance hole must have been round the other side of the chog. Like has been said we could have found said chog and nail it back up there but just figured the next hole down which was only feet away was the next best thing (also no nails). He was making plenty of noise calling for the mother so im sure she found him
  22. there was a hole about 3-4ft below their hole and the mother was about, so put it in there, didn't want to leave it in their current one as it would be open to the elements and no way of getting to the other as it was on the under side of the limb
  23. It was a youngster doubt it could fly, luckily we were working out of a mewp so made it easier to move the bird. I also cant take all the credit as i was working with paul who is also a member on here (before he moans about me not mentioning his work too). Definitely satisfying knowing that he was ok thought i hit whatever it was in there when we saw his red head but then realised it was a wood pecker. I wonder if thermal imaging wood have picked this up?
  24. Knew there was a hole in the limb further down so proceeded with caution untill we found this chap further up the stem Moved him to the hole further down and left the tree will be back in the winter i expect
  25. thats what i thought because you could easily let go whilst using a figure 8 and still fall
