  1. scroll down to the bottom of the page and click user cp this will then give the option of editing details
  2. First i heard of it, was not well advertised?
  3. well done rob perfect aim, i was begining to wonder if it was going to be tight dropping it in that gap. Steve told me of how amazing the colour of timber was, i have never felled a sequioa before and was suprised by the colour difference from the top timber to the base. Looking forward to part 2
  4. Like steve said the 7900 is a really good saw super powerful and really revs, think parts availability has let them down and there prices have gone from the lower end of the price range to round about pro saw prices so have a shop around. Oh and lets see those tractors
  5. I am going to have to work ten times harder to get thier, but i was never work shy. You will work ten times harder but appreciate it ten times more keep up the hard work:thumbup1:
  6. I paid about the same to go to merrist wood
  7. What gristwood and toms depot do you work from stu? never seen that sort of lorry used before?
  8. I have a 300tdi in my 90 and am tempted to have a tweak have heard this takes away flat spots i enjoy a good thrash just would like a bit more from her
  9. Thank you for the reply i have been on at jim for months to send me some information after i found out that you were meeting up and he has sent me nothing. Im still at the sharp end of the industry and am just finishing my tech cert where we looked at some decay detection but not in much detail hence why i was interesed in the findings. After reading this post im starting to understand thermal imaging a lot more i personally want to see it used more for identifying wildlife and habitats within a tree especially ivy covered trees. I look forward to reading more articles. Ben
  10. oh i see sounds good, some nice motors
  11. Whats with the series front end its confusing my tired head? looks series 3 but kind of weird
  12. I know this may be a bit of an ask but i believe last year (some time shortly after the southwest woodland show as thats where i saw you) you did a demo for a london council and jim mead was there from gristwood and toms (another one who is still yet to be won over i believe). I was told he was there with the picus to compare results, just wondering if they both complimented each other in the fact of giving similar results or if one showed findings the other did not?
  13. Sorry to hear about that mate try and find a local farm they can be helpful, he is winchester area
  14. I have seen holm oaks around coastal areas would give good shelter all year round and fairly low maintenance too.
  15. side d rings are not designed for having complete weight on them ie hanging off them but cant see why there would be a problem with on the side out on a limb as its for work position not load bearing. As for a secondary anchor incase of main line failure then this should be on the front as this could potentially be load bearing, at least thats how i read it anyway.
  16. search through and see if there are any receipts or any info giving an idea who done it. they could be dumb enough to have left something
  17. Dont wait till next year go to the apf this year im really wanting to make my pole climbing debut, although thinking i should have practiced at some smaller events through out the year whoops:scared1:
  18. Thanks for the reply paul, some of our work could and can be done with a silky but have heard of in the past another climber wanting to wear non chainsaw trousers was told by the manager that he still had to wear chainsaw trousers in case he had to use one. The manager said that if a chainsaw was needed you wouldn't come down and change into the chainsaw trousers (even though we would). So although choosing easier work is an option not always that easy.
  19. would advise not climbing alone on these trees no matter how safe you are, sometimes they can still be fine but other rot right through and takes very little to break. Part of our spec in a deadwood is to remove deadwood or remove end weight because of the risks
  20. i thought the miscellaneous provisions act meant they could serve a notice on to any dangerous tree that could cause damage be it building or person etc and under the highways act the could serve a notice relevant to the highway ie causing a danger or encroaching over the highway.
  21. I have often asked/requested the use of class a trousers in a tree but denied (company policy:thumbdown:?), would like to know how the risks differ from pruning to section felling or is it just your opinion paul? ben

  23. I think the stihl 361 would be by far out of his price range if he cant afford the 357, the price power and weight of the 346 make it a quality little saw.
  24. if they dig under it too they could see even further, just pop a card through the door for when it blows over
