  1. Are you actually aloud to descend on a munters hitch, i know you can because i have done it. Was out footlocking the other day without a figure 8 so used a munters to descend using a krab, told someone and they reckon it should only be used for belaying. Can anyone shed some light? cheers
  2. Im assuming they were felling with a big operation like that but cant see any cutters?

  4. just wondering as i work for a council contractor and our uniform is just hi viz shirts thought they would have taken the same route thats all, probably so all your in house teams look the same. cheers
  5. Do you not have to wear hi viz, as your on LA? sorry for the derail nice work got to love the cemetery work
  6. This has happened to a few of ours but be careful of any loose parts going back into the cylinder as this also happened which resulted in a rebuild, luckily could not pull it over so no damage was done. Do sound good with no exhaust though
  7. wish i knew how to add pics but mine is on my avatar will probably only ever go as low as t-shirt line or somewhere that can be covered.
  8. I have a large wellingtonia to take down and due to the size of the timber would be a shame/serious amount of logging to do that instead of re using the wood. The tree is still currently standing and is based just outside guildford near a village called chilworth. They are fine with milling the timber on site and i think you could get a wood mizer or equivilant to the tree. I dont know much about milling sizes or even how sought after this kind of thing is anway any questions or if you would like to see the tree then i could probably pass on the owners details to check the sight out. Think thats it many thanks oh the tree is probably getting on for 80ft so plenty of timber
  9. if your using your side d rings then cross the rope round effectively choking the tree if you were to slip also might act as a confidence boost, i find that once you get up top and start carrying out work by the time your chogging it down your too busy thinking about your work than slipping. good luck and stick with it
  10. Gristwood and toms aint all bad and with your qualifications maybe future in surveying etc
  11. glad i don't where braces on my trousers any more they would have to be done too
  12. Same happened to a friend wanting to buy a new landy but wanted to compare the td5 with the puma engine the salesman said they were a bit busy to be taking out a test drive unless he was going to be buying one that day. Just because we both mid twenties in work gear could not be bothered with us, sometimes you have to dress like you have a country estate to please the new landrover dealers
  13. Im after the exploded view of an ms660 parts diagram struggling to find one on the web, wondering where any retailers get them from. Would be helpful for stihl to put them in the owners manual but hey. Just need to find a few part numbers for the boss to buy the bits. many thanks
  14. Dont go down portsmouth then done many a tree to that spec from the tree officers too, effectively over time becoming high pollards just another management process.
  15. Thats unlike you to forget about me on a dodgy tree im all upset now, i know how you enjoy saving the awkward ones for me
  16. depends if they know you well enough if you just sole contract climb or if you do other work as and when, if so maybe lose the number might be worth talking to them as they are the guys who will be seeing it. What colours do they all wear maybe try to get something similar to blend in ie if majority of the companies are certain colours go that way too
  17. How about just Ben Tidey Arborist then phone number probably to keep it discreet enough as not to upset your current employers although they may think it will look good as you will be turning up smart making them look good too
  18. thats got to be the next t-shirt
  19. We were once working in portsmouth high street and had to do it after 6pm when all the shops had shut, coned signed and taped area off next thing someone on a disability scooter swerved through the tape missed the ladder and chipper and back out the other side with tape wrapped round him. Turned out he was drunk as a friend of his came up on his scooter and apologised, gladly don't see it happen too often
  20. check out the thread you started on the tractors think somone has just posted pics of a fordson roadless

  21. Ed are those both roadless i have heard they are quite rare?
  22. Had this happen on our bc 150s check the rad is unblocked also check exhaust is not blowing as the hot air just gets trapped in the confined area, we tended to run it with the hood up for a bit with someone blowing with a leaf blower. We usually sent them back to the mechanics but not sure how they resolved the problem to be honest although i remember that on the opposite side of the dials where there was sometimes a handle this was removed possibly to allow warm air to be released? hope this helps
  23. Last year was half way through a laurel hedge and yet over half full on the trailer was determined not to go tip at least 20 mile round trip, just managed to squeeze it all on got to love ifor williams trailers
  24. Not much only lord and lady coleman of colemans mustard i believe and dave barratt of barratt homes
  25. If your suggesting root decay then i wouldn't have thought picus or fractometer would be much use unless decay was so severe it was heading up the main stem? maybe worth digging around the buttresses, dont mean to sound like im telling you how to suck eggs
