  1. Type cs for me. Thats what I have always climbed in so im used to them. Do take a pair of shorts with me on the hottest days tho and change into them if I can once all cutting has been done.
  2. one other thing to help you stay hydrated also, Dont sit in the sun in your lunch break as hard as that is. Ive heard that brings on dehydration.
  3. I dont have much of a set time for my breaks. Just whenever. I normally have a good munch on the way to the job first thing then a 5 minute bite when convenient then flat out till whenever lunch time arrives.
  4. volvic flavoured water for me. Either that or a 3 litre bottle of squash.
  5. Its just wrong people doing that especially if they are charging what looks like top dollar to do it. ( or even if theyre not) Sometimes though i do think that surely the (elderly) couple must have noticed that no branches where being taken away and that someone was throwing them over the fence. . However I also understand that being elderly they may not be completely confident in confronting them about it and even if they did maybe get some story about going round there to clear it up afterwards or whatever they make up. I just cant understand how people could provide a false and wrong service like that and feel fine with themselves about it.
  6. Wow, I didant think of that. Cant wait to give that a go next time im climbing on art positioner
  7. Not as good as " compare the meerkat.com" "compare the market.com" Simples! ! love it!
  8. Ive giving up smoking for 2 years now. Will never go back to it absolutely no reason to. waste of money, less apetite, loss of fitness waste of money again dont get me started. lol. As for giving up i no depending on how long you have smoked etc it can be alot harder but the reality of it is all you have to do is not put a cigarette to your mouth. Thats it. Simple when you think of it like that. The biggest motivator though is when you feel the benefects directly from giving up i think. Good luck with it!
  9. I climb on prussic at the mo. I have an art positioner but keep coming back to the old faithfull. I like it cos its nice simple and i like the physical side of using it aswell. Havent tried v.t yet but have heard many good things and im sure it wont be too long. .
  10. aaaaaah you just done me a goodun with that. I was thinking cornwall i havent been there for ages my number plates been cloned oh no! lol. Evil
  11. if theres a few plant pots and nice shrubs on the ground i throw the branches down in between the trees ( if theres room). Minimizes the risk of breaking something. Also my secret weapon for topping conifers. My art postioner .
  12. Thats really good stuff. Enjoyed watching that video. Cheers for posting that up . 1.30 is a pretty tidy time for having that tree done and cleared!
  13. I use the rope grab on my side strop. One of the best things i have changed. Advantages. Never slips locks in solid, can take up slack easily with one hand Disadvantages You cant slacking off under load. Thats about the only disadvantages i can think of. Well worth changing the prussic loop for.
  14. Or hes had a falling out with his neighbour and knows that there out at the weekend
  15. Yeah i was thinking something along those lines. Sounds like the kind of customer that wouldnt ask you to check if the tree had a tpo or not!
  16. Thats a nice after pic you have there.
  17. Im not sure if that book covers chainsaws and everything but for things like that you should be able to find out most things you want from browsing/posting questions up on here.
  18. That looks like a right tidy harness.
  19. Hi mate, i have heard good things about a book called the tree climbers companion, would be worth a look. You should get one for about £13. Tell me about it, can feel my blood changing temperature
  20. I use a north face jacket for climbing. Ticks all the boxes for me. Perfect little jacket, well was until i ripped the sleeve the other day.
  21. Hope it all goes well for you mate. Dont worry about making the jump and spending your hard earned on climbing gear. One of the best investments you are likely to make.
  22. "Dealt with" i think are the two words id use to describe that video. so funny could not stop laughing watching that!
  23. I find that video and the way they used to do trees fascinating. I remember some old photos i saw at college of about 12 people standing side by side in a big birdsmouth they had just cut out of the tree with axes. Mans work!
  24. I think id go down the steroiding a pyrocantha route (bad spelling i no) and bring an end to the war of trees.! lol
