  1. No but as the timber dries it becomes brittle.
  2. So are you just going to continue to ignore the fact that you don't even have the minimum oil flow, how's the pressure??? Adding a ram into the equation wont help, that's just going to demand more pressure and flow that you don't seem to have to spare
  3. Yet the manufacturers minimum requirement is 38-53 Even at the minimum guide bar length you are still under power Sounds like you need to cannibalise a harvester head for the motor and guide bar
  4. Well according to HMG we are short of housing and need to build more. There are national targets to be met, its government, one department working contrary to the interests of another is not uncommon. Its government, no one said it had to make sense.
  5. Its all as lame as fook. I am not in a flood risk zone but the LA has allowed development up hill from me and that's meant drainage and surfacing. Now the drains cant cope and we regularly have surface water in the street, that ends up in the river and the people in the valley bottom start to grow gills.
  6. You have to realise this is a small island where land is at a premium. Greedy developers and councils wanting more properties to build and tax and they aren't too fussy about where Sea levels have risen 200mm in the last century and we keep making "improvements" to the landscape As an example, this summer "Sport England" spent many tens of thousands of government grant money providing drainage for the village cricket field, now all that water (and other) that used to percolate into the river over many days gets there in moments then we wonder why the river floods the recently built skate park
  7. Yes, don't do that, a couple of kilos of that stuff will have no serious effect at all:001_rolleyes:
  8. I couldn't be rsed looking for an umlaut either. I thought the point was that unimog isn't tractor. Makes me wonder what else to believe.
  9. No it doesn't. The name Unimog is German, its a made up word consisting of three others UNIversal MOtorised Impliment carier (Gerait traiger) The German for tractor is Tractor.
  10. What its classed (registered) as is not relevant, what makes a difference is use. You could register an artic as agricultural but you would be in bother if you used it for general haulage
  11. Whatever.......Its just going to de skill you
  12. The best chainsaw sharpener is a round file and the ability to use it. Master a skill that you will have forever.
  13. Yes but only as far as the next layby :laugh1:
  14. Dogs are clearly better, never see a dog stuck up a tree
  15. I used the Buckingham super wrap ones and cant fault them
  16. Ha ha, medieval implements of torture, hammered out of pig iron and fitted with the smallest pads and narrowest straps available, gaffed out without notice, rime or reason, capable of chafing and causing shins to bleed within mere moments of use, the best boat anchor ever to be sold as a climbing aid. :laugh1:
  17. Make sure you fit a diode or unplug the trailer before you operate the tipper or it could proper mess with the truck
  18. Had a yard done that had previously been a lodge pond before is was filled in Brick crush geotextile and road planings to top off. I sprayed diesel in it then fired and rolled it when hot. It went like the M26 where it came from again. I had to give up on getting those white lines back in though:laugh1:
  19. What, none at all?
  20. Mate of mine tried that and got himself a load of grief and still had to comply:thumbdown:
  21. The simple answer is yes it can but should you. So this scrap ram you salvaged from a skip, presuming it can be repaired, is it fit for purpose?. Is it strong enough? When you describe it as a jack, is it from some sort of gearbox lift or engine hoist?. Please tell me its not painted red with sealey written on it. Have you considered the geometry? Ram placement is critical to the load distribution. Back to the use and construction/IVA issues, you can add PUWER to that list of hoops to jump through to stay legit and pukka. Time was you could diy this stuff with impunity, in these days litigious days you do so at your own risk. As far as powering it goes, there are plenty of pump tank units available, new and used, it might even be possible to cannibalise something from a tail lift (although most are 24 volt) In short, I would go with something proven. As others have said, speak to someone like flowfit
  22. To prep blast and paint for 350 is a bargain
  23. The main problem with powder coat is that it doesn't like the sheared edges that press and stamp work leaves on the tinwork. If the machines were "fettled" to address the sharp edges, powder coat would last much better. Traditional finishes like cellulose and 2 pack don't suffer the same but take much longer to apply so that would never do.
  24. It's unlikely the council would officially condone that practice because of the liability issues, particularly where chainsaws are involved. It wouldn't be a surprise to see them denying it while running for cover.
  25. Yes its powder coat not paint. Life expectancy of warranty plus 1 day
