  4. I think you will find the insurance industry is work whatever hours it wants...........no wait, is that what you meant?????
  5. Once upon a time we had screwgate, then along came first double and then triple action biners which became the weapon of choice as recommended by out masters at the HSE. Then in no time at all said HSE were issuing safety alerts that the new safer biners could open in use and might not be the bogs danglies after all The safest biner is the one you take care of
  6. Nice work, when are you making the conveyor? The bloke on the blue shirt is going to mutiny on you if it isn't soon :laugh1:
  7. It was a busy time, lots of "tree surgeons" about, many staying in B&B's, and many staying in the local hospital. We were clearing for the highways and you had to be wary of who they sent out to work with you. I saw more than one leave in an ambulance at the end of a particularly steep learning curve.
  8. Good luck with your protest, if you are happy with some "text me" teenager with no experience or road smarts sharing the streets with your wife and kid while they are off to school in the morning. Time was at 21 you could go from car to artic, they changed that for a reason as well.
  9. Second hand lid is a bad (and often smelly) idea Make a list of what you want and ask a couple of the numerous suppliers to quote, you may get better buying power if you can combine your order with other students
  10. Invoice to go works for me
  11. Free quotes, see driver for details
  12. Just apply the tree surgery general exemption:thumbup1:
  13. No mate, that's the hand crank model, how are you fixed for work???????
  14. No I cant swim.
  15. I had a local guy make me 4 at a fiver each
  16. Pass that man some cheese
  17. Take the bits to your local industrial lifting place, they will make what you need
  18. Yes that will work for sure, I bet those sneaky scrotes would never think of having some pukka looking signs made.
  19. I wouldn't bet on it, I got done a few years ago and they ripped a container door off its hinges, broad daylight and all.
  20. Biscuit jointer mate, and I don't mean rich tea either
  21. There is no requirement and never has been
  22. Nowt wrong with mekin em earn their keep, but it's been said you cant send em up 't mill chimney or under 't loom any more
  23. No, you are dead wrong, a customer once told me that a mate of his from down the pub reckoned that all walnuts were worth a grand, minimum. Purdey buy them all for gun stocks you know
  24. It might not be a proposition for a sawmill, the first thing they are going to wonder is, "what about inclusions", single stems are often tree surgery arisings and are often viewed sceptically. Transporting singles is also quite uneconomical. Someone with a portable outfit might be a better bet, sounds like a job for someone with an Alaskan mill or similar but there comes a point where its just not economical. There are plenty of hobbyists out there but they seldom want to pay much and the first thing they usually ask is if it will fit in the family car or they rock up with one of those pressed tin "Erde" trailers from Halfords.
