And from that blog the thing that stands out for me is this which makes a laughing stock of itself and any arguments that follow since its all based on an assumption. Unless you are drilling harder material such as stainless steel where temperature can be an issue, cobalt drills offer no benefit over a decent quality HSS bit.

There could be any number of causes, corroded terminals, broken wire, blown fuse, speed controller problems, busted electronics, the list goes on. Its usually a matter of eliminating each issue till it works again. A decent auto electrician should be able to fault find from cold in under an hour. Get a test lamp and start with the live into the system and work through from there.
