I was over slightly once when I got stopped by about 200kg got let off with a warning. I am more conscious of it now though. I drive a minibus for the air cadets from time to time and that is very easy to overload carrying kit. R

Brilliant fun. Make sure you use the proper via feratta attachments though, you can seriously tool yourself if you don't. Also on some of the less touristy ones consider how you'd deal with a situation if you fell off. A rope, a couple of slings and crabs could be worth carrying. R

Chances are if you were running a little 3-4 year old diesel clio going to work each day you'd never ever get stopped. A landy or a van or tractor I'd say it was a lot more likely as we tend to have a genuine use for cherry and therefore come into contact with it. Having said that the place by me that used to sell it has stopped which is a pain. R

Cheers I'm paying out £120 a day but they're providing strimmer, cord and fuel so I think it's probably about right. R -

Being cheeky here, is that with you supplying the strimmer, cord and fuel? I'm just wondering as I sub out a similar job and I'm paying quite a lot to have it done? R -
I'm putting in a complaint about them, and have reported them to the police for dangerous driving at the moment. I got stopped on the A41 near Prees heath towing a trailer. No problem with being stopped, I do agree with it if done correctly, but their galaxy overtook me pulled in about a car length in front then braked heavily, causing me to brake locking wheels on the van and trailer. It's been captured on their camera and I hope that the police will prosecute. I believe that the police should be used to stop vehicles as they are properly trained, unless it is a vehicle checkpoint that vehicles are not used to do the stop. R

I was thinking about your problem with that. Can you get a set of ramps, back up to your tip site drive the front wheels up onto the ramps then tip, might just give you that little bit of extra angle that you need? R

Private work your talking a bit more than 100k if your any good! It's the same with any industry a bit of luck, combined with a good skill level means good earnings, without that bit of luck you can be stuffed. But you can make your own luck IMO R

Not always if you can get a job for six months earning £150 a day I'd prefer to do that than work for 12 months earning £80 a day. R

I agree and disagree. I find there are a lot of people doing work very cheap, and hence cannot afford decent wages. This has a knock on effect for us all. If someone is always willing to work for £80quid a day then there is no way wages will ever pick up again. Always a difficult decision knowing what to do. Easier if your employed though as at least you can budget and not worry about tools, vehicles etc. R

I know people that are earning that kinda wage but then again they are very very good. Supply and demand I'm afraid, along with right time right place. R ps If you are genuinely any good why not go on your own?

I think it comes down to their is no right or wrong answer you just have to go for what you feel best at the time. If I was you though I'd look at a work specific truck then for the other car get something like a vito or transporter with seats and a towbar for that odd occassion. I'm still trying to decide what to do vehicle wise............... R

BT lines I'd have hoped he'd offer, blantanly his error, having said that though id look on it this way, what would the score be if it was a £100k worth of damage. I.e is he a subbie with insurance etc or a subbie for tax reasons, its a different thing. Someone that was employed would not be forced to pay for it, although it may be in their best interests...... Can you not get them done for free though, probably to late now but next time get customer/customers voice to ring up. As for the spliced eye, i'd have said that was an accident that you should absorb as part of running a business and employing people, and was therefore unfair to make his cough for it. R

Anybody know anything about their website not working? I was just looking up the address to pop some blades in the post and it's suspended? Hope their not having problems. R I'd ring them but they're shut now, sure I'll have an answer tomorrow.

40miles is 40 minutes or less in an armed response vehicle. Police helicopter.......... Somebody has messed up on the day, or the week/months/years leading upto the event with inadequate resources. Personally I feel these community support offices are an inadequate resource. A bit like a groundy that climbs. Ok most of the time but when theres a big take down they can't cope....... R

You don't need a disclaimer what you need is on the quote and receipt state that you would advise that a structural engineer is employed to monitor the house over a period of time. Unless of course you have surverying qualifications and know exactly what will happen, ifso speak to your professional indemnity insurers for advice. R

Thats one of the problems with these communtiy officers instead of full on coppers! They followed him in a taxi - Lets have proper coppers and pay them a bit more!! R

While I'd admit that he maybe should have been paying more attention to where the car had disappeared to I feel he needs a bit of slack. If your short (like me) it's actually very hard/impossible to see the first 10ft in front of you. What he should have noticed is a car going past him and then disappearing.... Still sounds like he was in the right to me, but we'll probably never know the full story. R

Thing is though what you've actually got on your licence is D1 not for hire or reward. In actual fact you'll get away with it but you haven't actually got the full entitlement(unless you can prove grandfather rights) that come with taking and passing the D1 test.
