I might put the lot on ebay. I've got to much junk - I mean stuff lying about!! Would you say milling puts much wear and tear on a bar/saw. I'm wondering if I ever do get round to getting a mill if I could just use my 650 with 36inch bar without it being to detrimental? R

Thanks, glad it's not just me. Unfortunately it's the adjustment holes aswell. The bar is touching the sprocket if it's line up correctly at the moment. R

All my small strimmers for the grounds maintenance work are echo's. Brilliant machines, only thing is that the dealer network seems to be smaller that Husky or stihl when you do need bits. Not used bigger ones tho. R

Would a secondhand pedestrian flail mower not work quite well? I'd definitely recommend the FS400 for the job if not. A good amount of power, only problem is their quite heavy on fuel. R

Just think how fit (or knackered) you'd be if you took the dolly off!! Just out of interest did you ever consider a countax. Bottom end pro but with the different decks that you can get would have seemed to fit the bill on some accounts and if so what were your reasons for rejection in the end. R

I've got an 075 that I acquired ages ago when I brought some other stuff. I've just brought a 36" bar for it from a 090. Looking at the specs it would appear that it should fit but doesn't. The holes are in the wrong place. It looks like I may be able to drill some new holes into the bar to make it fit. Is this wise or a really bad idea? The plan is to get an alaskan mill and use the saw for milling...........but as with all good intentions.... Failing that anybody wana buy an 075 with an 090 bar that doesn't quite fit.......... R

Not sure whether I'm impressed or not. I often think that the smaller ride ons aren't worth it when you could just use a big pedestian mower and pay an extra wage with the change. Let us know how you get on though. R

I must admit I'm not a big fan of grants for businesses. Why should we pay for people to get rich? If people are going to succeed in business they out to be able to do it without a grant. I do accept that some areas the work would not be done, but here I think that someone ought to organise the funding then put it out to competitive tender, rather than giving money to people. I have done some work paid for by grants because I'd be stupid not to, but I was thinking why is the cash here for this but not other things? Also a mate of mine has just secured 100k funding for something that will make him very rich, and IMO doesn't put anything of note back into the community. Whilst others are unemployed and would be grateful very little. Just my tuppence worth R I think the money could be better spent on other things

You can carry out the works listed above under the DDD exemption. As a courtesy I sometimes ring the tree officer depending on my relationship with them in that area. I'd tend to use a 5 day notice if I was unsure. Really it is just courtesy to fill one in, but at least then they get chance to refuse works that they dont think should be carried out. Probably more for a diseased tree where there could be a debate as to how healthy it is. Do the work but as already said get some piccies just in case it comes back to you. R p.s As professionals imho we ought to be offering a full service to the customers which in my book includes this type of paperwork. It may be that they've rung up and said Jo Bloggs tree surgeons say I can remove this branch but to check. They've said incorrect as no mention of any danger being present. It also means that the old i've checked and it's not TPO'd doesn't carry weight and get us into trouble. As I said just my opinion, some people want to stay away from the paperwork.

Experience tells me that the ignition unit do not always last the lifetime of a saw!! Sounds like they're not really sure what it is. I'd definitely get a second opinion. Having said that at 15years it's not had a bad life.................... R

We installed this a little while ago, just come across piccies whilst looking for some for my up and coming website. Was one of the more interesting jobs that we've done. I'll try and find a finished one of it sometime. You can see it as you come through TernHill on the A41 R

Depends on what your profit expectations are. If your making a reasonable living out of it then better one in the hand if your not stick to your guns!!

I'd agree definitely something not right there!! If you've hired it make sure that the hire company are sorting it, it's what you pay them for!!!

I haven't got kids but I do look after a mate of mines regularly I've never really got it. Kids are going to make the house messy it's what they do. When I've got them the rule is any mess they make has to be tidied before bed. It means that the end of the day normality is restored. They have fun, you don't stress trying to achieve something that isn't going to happen. Occassionally it won't happen and I tidy up afterwards, I think thats a lot less hassle to spend 15mins putting stuff away rather that hours nagging and getting worked up about stuff. Obviously as they get older you can implement tidying as they go, but they'll use less toys then anyway. All a balancing act IMO. R

I must be lucky I don't really do stress. I just look for a solution to the problem. When the van blew up it wasn't oh not what do I do, it's ring people keep them informed work out how to reschedule or what you need to sub. Look for the solution not the problem. Do the little things matter - not really. My house is messy more often than it's tidy, does it matter, well I have more fun out n about than I do in the house so not really. If something gets broken, stressing won't fix it so move on. I guess because I don't really get stressed I struggle to understand why others do. Life's for living - Enjoy it. A college report once said about me "Robert is a good problem solver, unfortunately he causes most of the problems in the first place" stays with me to this day, if you don't cause the problems you have less stuff to fix!! R
