  1. Chill & forget the trees. They wont make the day any more special. Just up the flower order a bit.
  2. Wont the chippings be too wet? Especially if you are getting paid by the output kWh. A mate has just set up doing wood chip but they are buying in dry wood to chip. They are still charging by the volume but are just about to change over to output kWh once they can agree a rate with the buyer. Seems an odd way of doing the billing to me as they get paid for the actual energy going into the heating system not the energy that goes into the burner. As the best I can see the system running at is 80-85% they loose 15-20% best case & prob more like40% worst case. So if the system is running badly due to lack of servicing or just how its set up & used they get paid less. Cant see any other utilities charging by the unit less the efficiency of the equipment you use. What would be a fair price for delivered chip per m3 tonne (at a specified moisture content) kwh delivered (would incur test costs) kwh out put as measured by the burners meter All inc delvery costs
  3. Hot glue gun? Or a hot knife on the outside if you can strip it?
  4. IF its forestry & not Arb then you actually have MORE permitted development rights than Agri & you need less land to gain them. Plus hobby forestry counts so small scale stuff is not an issue.
  5. Good for kindling & as the main fuel. Its sort of half way between soft & hard woods. You do go through the volume of it as its so light when dry.
  6. Forget booms use a 4m+ wide pattern single point nozzle. linky 2nd linky
  7. I have one similar to that one but it has the wide spray single nozzle which is much easier to use near fences, trees ect & when going in & out of gates.
  8. Ah as you already have other tanks on site then yes you need a bunded one. Not because the others are bunded but because the "site" is storing more than the allowed amount (1500L for agri use, 2500 for new domestic use). If its inside a building you also dont need a bunded tank. There is or was an exemption for temporary tanks of upto 1000L but cant find that bit now. Oil Storage Regulations
  9. For 1000L you dont have to have a bunded tank.
  10. Do any of you use the Fig 9 knot? Its just as easy to tie as the fig 8 but will undo after loading easier.
  11. NFU will insure hay & straw so I dont see why they wont cover wood.
  12. I am betting that it goes the way of nearly all US programs. First few episodes are good but then it get silly to the point of stupidity.
  13. Sorry, where does the "lazy" bit come into it?
  14. Will a 4 stroke run ok in that environment?
  15. Been paying £50-60 = VAT per tonne delivered in 18 tonne loads. Has risen recently.
  16. From HERE Now I am sure that as a national publication that they check with the "horses mouth" before publication.
  17. UNLESS the tractor also carries out an agricultural task once it gets to site.
  18. I thought that the meters worked on speed & time. So its which one clocks up the rate first. At diff points in the trip you will be billed by Min charge time distance extra's
  19. He sounds like a menace. Inform the council. They might pull his private hire licence.
  20. No I din t mean your outfit. I was talking in general. Its just like the hand gun laws. Nearly all hand gun crime is/was done with a non registered hand gun so how does increasing the legislation help? The gun is already outside of the law as is the owner.
  21. If people are ignoring the existing laws & regulations, adding more will not increase compliance or safety. I would even go as far to say that it could decrease compliance as people get to the FFS stage & say stuff it.
  22. If you are not after max power but want better drive ability & MPG then as it would improve the vehicle why dont the makers program the chip better? I understand when you are moving the powerband or increasing the BHP that chipping is good & why the makers dont do it. But better MPG & better drive ability should come as standard.
  23. Why? Most 7.5 ton trucks can still only carry 3 ton ish & most 3.5 tonne trailers will carry that. A few will do 4 tonne but not many.
  24. If the engine is running fast enough & the chain moving before you touch it to the wood & the engine keeps running fast & the chains stops then the clutch is busted.
  25. With the 4 tonne air brake conversion, will you be that much better off by the time the extra weight has been added to the tow car (reducing its capacity) & the trailers weight increase due to the added brakes & strengthening. So unless they also increase the train weight the bit extra that can go on the trailer is lost on the tow cars capacity. A bit like the 3 axle trailers actually carry less than the 2 axle ones.
