  1. IIRC you can put what motor you like onto a Husky, therefore if you were to buy a motor from Goodwinch (either the bow 1 or bow 2) then you can easily replace the items if the need arises. You do not have to buy from Husky which incidently are very good, reliable but slow winches.
  2. We have a job in Cardiff, is there anyone on here from that neck of the woods.
  3. I guess you mean winching and holding for an hour as opposed to winching constantly for an hour. The better the battery the longer it will hold charge, we fit three batteries to our trucks, one for the truck itself and two for the winches. We also fit a 2nd alternator which is easy if your running Land Rovers as so many companies make the brackets and wiring. I would rather buy a 2nd hand Warn or Husky than a new Chinese copy. You can get a good Warn 8274 for around £800. Alternatively, a Goldfish from Goodwinch will last, they are a bit slow but so is a Husky.
  4. I have a forwarding trailer with crane and grab £3,000. Old but usable.
  5. There is approx 20 tonne of this, most in lengths. Ideal for processor.
  6. Electric is fine, I doubt you will ever overheat it using it for tree work. I would say the hardest part will be find a suitable winch bumper to hang it on. Forget hydraulic for what you are doing, electric is so easy and more than capable. I would suggest you speak to David Bowyer Goodwinch Winches & Parts, Electric Winches and Winch Bumpers, UK – Goodwinch.com he is a friendy guy, knows his stuff and reasonably priced. What do I know - I have four Land Rovers and a buggy each fitted with a winch front middle and rear, I have another five vehicles all fitted with various electric winches both 12v and 24v. We often overvolt our winches and put 24v through a 12v winch, some motors will stand this and some burn out, David Bowyer sells the ones which tolerate 24v.
  7. Did you get sorted, we have a team working in Solihull for the next couple of weeks so may be able to help you out.
  8. Yes:001_smile: No:cursing: Should give a bit more detail, it can be a useful tool but can also be a complete waste of time. Sometimes will need to be used with other methods to back up suspicions. Not always the gods gift to tree analysis.
  9. Not really north west, we are based in Wolverhampton and could with another pair of hands but you would need CSCS, if you do not have it at the moment it's only a Sat morn course.
  10. Dylan Do you have CSCS. Bob
  11. We recently had a 60 tonne crane, when the driver set up he told us what he could lift at the point we could get the hook to. His maximum lift was 9 tonne, we took about 3 at a time.
  12. We are thinking of trading our tracked 8" and 10" Timberwolf for a 6" quadtrack. Nothing wrong with the Timberwolf but we need a new chipper so going over to Greenmech.
  13. All timber collected today so sorted now thanks Brian.
  14. We are taking down row of mature Leylandii next week (4th-8th) Feb in Stoke and while we will be chipping most of it, if anyone is interested in the timber for any reason please let me know. There will be quite a few decent lengths which would make, fence posts or maybe horse rails or even firewood. Bob 01902 892652
  15. Mine turned up today as well but I am far to ugly to put my mush in a public place. Having said that I just might go down the pub in it tonight.
  16. We used to supply a pizza shop in Wolverhampton years ago, they would call and order logs when they closed, some times 4am so you lot are having a lie in. Fortunately we had an answerphone. We do some times get folks call late Sunday evening about tree work and wanting to make appointments, the latest we have had is 10.20pm.
  17. We are taking down approx 10 early mature limes Nr Nuneaton, if anyone would like the wood it's available free of charge if you collect or we can deliver for a small fee. 01902 892652 Bob
  18. My first two springers were Misty (mother) and Foggy (daughter) and my last three have been Brash, wolfy and Doris. We now have a Mastif called timber and a RottweilerXAlsation called Soldier. Out of all the dogs brash was special, she could think for herself and knew what was happening on any particular day of the week, by that I mean she new Thursday and Saturday were for beating, she new when I walked out the back door with the whistle hanging round my neck the back would down on the Land Rover and we were off. The whistle was like having a remote control, she new each command. I doubt I will ever get another quite like her. She once bought me a fish, christ knows how she caught it. 19. All sorted now thankyou.
  20. Sounds good, is it you?.
  21. We have a days work for a forwarder near Evesham, does anyone nearby know to one but must have CSCS
  22. Why can't you do it, is it because it will make the tree unstable?.
  23. Been AAAC since 1990 and cannot remember when I was told how to run my business by anyone from AA, some times wish some would tell me, they may make a better job of it:thumbup1:.
  24. IIRC the chassis is the same, the name hi capacity was simply a term used when land rover altered the body shape to accept a higher capacity, the tail board was the width of the vehicle instead of some thing that resembled a letter box.
  25. Simply because the longer wheelbase means you carry the weight better, the 130 have double springs whearas the 110 do not, bigger load bed.
