  1. Thanks for the replies lads, Dan has given me a price and is reasonably local to the site.
  2. We have a job next to a railway near Tamworth and need two lookouts, does anyone know a company who hires railways staff COSS, PICOP, Lookouts etc. We used to use one in Derby but I cannot remeber their name.
  3. I was talking to Chris Cooper Abbs about these yesterday, IIRC they are gravity fed. I have a set of blades for one if your interested, had my last one nicked 15 years ago. With regard to price I would say the only bit worth anything is the engine. You could keep it for memorabilia.
  4. We do have a three way tipping trailer but it sits a bit higher than the low loader which would have made loading more awkward so we used the low loader and simply rolled it off.
  5. The lump of Oak on the trailer weighs approx 5 tonne, it took both the jcb and hiab to lift one end at a time to get it on the trailer. It came off a lot easier than it went on. Photo0329.jpg
  6. I think this is the main reason we remain AAAC, you cannot cut corners and it keeps you on your toes.
  7. Palfinger PK9000A crane, 3600kg/2.5m , 2170kg/4.1m , 1510kg/5.9m , 1080kg/7.9m.
  8. We have approx 2 transit loads of wood at a pub halfway between Ferndown and Ringwood if any one is interested. Its Pine so more suited for a log burner than open fire. It will all be cut into rings and ready for splitting. It would need to be moved either Friday 4th afternoon or Saturday 5th morning.
  9. A guy wants to hire our mini digger but there is no access so its got to go over a 6' wall, just testing to make sure the Mog can lift it. The two strops are 5' so we can gain a bit more there if needed but are well within its capabilities. SAM_0232.jpg
  10. Cant think where there is one on our 300's, to many on the td5's.
  11. Sound advice, you need to check the fuel lines for wear or some thing rubbing. If its between the tank and pump then it will suck air, if its between the pump and injectors it will probably show as a leak. It could also be the filter full of crap or even water. Do you have a drain plug on the bottom of the filter.
  12. Last time we got pulled they gave us a GV9 for the trailer, the hand brake lever was broken and so could not the pulled on, they allowed us to take it back to the yard where I put a small peice of tube over it and that passed.
  13. Not on a 300
  14. Sounds like air in the fuel line. Could also be the lift pump on the way out. Have tried bleeding it when it stops, is there air in the system.
  15. Are you happy with them, what grinder are you using them on. We have ours fitted to a Predator 28 I find we use either one or some times two of the leader teeth and the sides are virtually untouched, seems a bit of a waste. Might be better and stronger if the two leader teeth were made as one to give them more strength. Saturn machine knives for finger teeth get my vote.
  16. Likeitorlumpit

From what I can gather its not a very big job, mainly a few Conifers to tidy and some fencing. I have not seen it.

    How far away are you.

    Bob

  17. I have a small job to price, is there anyone on here near Tenterden that would be interested in giving me a price.
  18. It wasn't a he, it was a they and they had an Irish accent.
  19. Well we did the job, they paid half in advance and the rest on completion. Left one of our trucks on site with them last night and no problems what so ever. Fine, happy people.
  20. Isn't he in France more so than here?. We have Mog and chipper, tractor and chipper with trailer or Land Rover and Chipper, if you are still looking I will send a few prices.
  21. 73p. Ministry carry out checks on a regular basis now in lay-by's and even with police pulling us over in Wolverhampton and Black Country and dipping tanks looking for red. I have been told they no longer dip the tank but take a swab from the exhaust pipe.
  22. Well done mate, I have been in a very similar situation and know how frustrating it is. I was standing upright filling a GREEN petrol can and the cashier turned the pump off and said over the tanoy 'you must put the can on the floor', I said 'I have a bad back and cannot bend to the floor' which was true at the time, there are some complete ass holes in this country and I have a knack for finding them or they have a knack for finding me, not sure which it is.
  23. I went to visit a mate who was a greenkeeper and on his office desk was a magazine with a picture of a guy up a huge redwood with a humungous saw hanging from his belt, he had taken the gob out and there was a rope attached to the top, the chunk he was taking off must have weighed half a ton. It was an advert for Honey Bros so next day I called them and booked a one day climbing course with a guy called Peter Bridgeman who also had a book out at the time which was pretty much the arborist's bible and at the end of the day I bought a harness, rope and a few karabiners and kept on practicng what I had learnt that day until I felt confident to start doing it for myself and being paid for it. That was mid 80's and I was young and fit and there was only one or two other companies about then so work was easy to come by.
  24. Is it actually for sale. Land values like this realy are down to how much you are personally prepared to part with bearing in mind small parcels of land go for more per acre. I have seen two acres fetch £28,500 and I think the purchaser would have gone even higher if the bidding had continued. I know a guy who paid £21,000 for 3 acres 15 years ago. In our area you would expect to pay £10,000 per acre for 4/5 acres
  25. Thought I would get an official response so I e mailed the RHA and this is their opinion. Bob, Judging by the information you have given I would understand that your employees would come under the following exemption from Driver CPC Vehicles carrying material or equipment to be used by the driver in the course of his or her work. Provided that driving the vehicle is not the driver's principal activity So as long as you can show that your employees are not employed as drivers and that driving is incidental to their work then you may come under the above exemption. Kind regards, ANDREW D REEVE Road Haulage Association Ltd, 3rd Floor Shore House, 68 Westbury Hill, Westbury-On-Trym Bristol BS9 3AA
