  1. Thats a good point and I hadn't thought of that, best to only deliver logs in the transit then which I assume would get around that issue.
  2. Tricky one, I have been AAAC since 1990 and have never used the logo on my trucks so I guess I would not get 'the wave' even if there was one. Like previously said the one thing that would bother me is the misuse which already happens with the tight controls that exist so a different logo or different colour might be the answer.
  3. There are some new laws or possibly guidelines coming in soon, I am not sure which but I do know things are altering. We have an operators license for our HGV's and I know haulage firms have to have CPC as well. We have got around this in the past because I do not employ anyone as a driver although driving is part of their daily routine, I emply arborist's. However, the guy who does our training is telling me that is no longer the case, if you drive a HGV or employ people who do then you have got have CPC Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) | Driver Training | RoSPA Thoughts?.
  4. You can put up to a 33" tyre on a standard Defender set up but bear in mind sizes vary between manufacturers. I have a set of 35" Fedimas on one of mine which are actually 36" when measured. The suspension and brake lines have been lifted.
  5. I think providing you cover a variety of subjects with up to date and relevant info it will appeal to the majority. The location and presenters may the determining factor and like has been previously said maybe a pig roost and possibly and group/band for the social.
  6. Sorry to hear your misfortune, I guess they stood back and watched from a distance to admire their work.
  7. We use a Seppi mulcher on a Valtra Valmet 8150 and a mini mower (Flail) on a Volvo EC25
  8. Our tractor needs a little more protection from flying debris and I have heard someone does stick on guards?. Anyone know or seen these.
  9. I am not saying the LA would or even could do this but, I know a hedge in a posh part of Wolverhampton that has a 'covenant'. How that works exactly and what the consequences would be I have no idea:confused1:.
  10. When I was at Reasheath College during the late 80's and early 90's, we were told Wales had 10% and England 14%. Cant remember where they got it from but some one had done a survey. If the above are true then England has lost some tree cover some where along the line which with all the various planting schemes that have been around the last 10/15 years, I would say tree cover has increased especially in rural areas.
  11. Cannot verify but they do say the ropes used to transport the stones to Stonehenge were made fom the bark of young Lime trees, they stripped the bark in lengths similar to the way squirrels do and soaked them in the bottom of a watercourse for two weeks then made them into ropes.
  12. I recently bought one of these for our compact tractor, needs a floor (optional) and bolsters and away you go. £150. its an old water bowser trailer. eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace
  13. No its the best, we have welded a silky to every tooth on the bucket so we can cut six branches at a time:thumbup1:
  14. Thought I would put a pic of our set up. It pulls quite well and stops even better which was tested on the way home when a dick head decided to pull out in front of me then do a left turn which he couldn't acomplish because his road was blocked so I came to a halt, when I papped the horn he stuck his middle finger up, that realy P1ssed me off. At Featherstone.jpg (85.1 KB) The Mog weighs about ten tonne with the crane on, the 360 is around 7 tonne and Muller Mitteltal trailer would be about 3 tonne.
  15. We have a few Land Rovers and like to play around with them. We do a few challenge events in some of them. Dans truck, spends a lot of time on its side or roof Dan.jpg (90.1 KB) Berts truck, been around a while but just about keeps going. Old D.jpg (110.1 KB) Me and the Mrs have won a few Vic and Dawn.jpg (87.7 KB)
  16. I compete in a few up and down the country with the Mrs as a co-driver and do quite a few at Uplands Coppice, its our wood. The lads do a bit as well Vic and Dawn.jpg (87.7 KB) Dan.jpg (90.1 KB) Old D.jpg (110.1 KB)
  17. We have a Vermeer SC60 which is a 60hp tracked machine, it will do a 5" stump in one minute, 10"/15" in 5 mins and a 20" approx 20 mins. It can be towed behind a Land Rover. I guess the time consuming bit is getting between the stumps if they are spread about, the last time we did a job like this we was able to take the Land Rover on site and therefore we could keep putting the grinder back onto the trailer to get it about which saved a lot of time.
  18. I have a greenmech 6" PTO chipper which I bought brand new a few years ago, it sits under the lean to and has never even had the blades turned, other than a few cobwebs it is as new. Let me know if its any interest.
  19. I have some pictures of TPF if you need any, both to full blown spec and also Chestnut fencing which in many instances is fit for purpose. If you would like them as an example pm me your e mail.
  20. This is very true when I am trying to explain the pro's and con's of what should not be done to a tree in their garden and tell them the LPA will not allow a heavy reduction on their TPO'd tree yet outside their house is a tree maintained by the LPA as a pollard:blushing:
  21. They are quite good health wise and one of them was pollarded a couple of years ago which has responded hence the request from the other neighbours etc. Yes, we are all good, except the football that is. I must say I am ashamed after being beat by a load of Tesco carrier bags, enuf ter mek want to ate yer yung.
  22. No first time.
  23. It spits
  24. Dont think I have ever a Leylandii bare root, or any other conifer for that matter, always pots or root ball.
  25. Say a local authority had a row of mature common Lime trees which they are responsible for, they are around 100 years old and adjacent to rear gardens. Due to pressure from residents and councillors they decide it might be a good idea to pollard them:scared1: by half, would you expect this to a) reduce the long term life span of the trees b) extend the life span of the trees c) make no great difference
