  5. 2001 Y reg, just coming up to 145k, been a work vehicle and it shows. One or two minor dings and the rear doors are begiining to deteriorate ut they still work fine at the moment. Service history up to date by West Mids 4x4 so if you want to know anything I am sure Ian will oblige. I am the 2nd owner and had it from 25k when it was approx two years old. Electric windows to passenger and rear doors, driver can do it himself, central locking works but needs a little attention to passenger door, superwinch on heavy duty front bumper works but is approaching the end of it's life, spot lights and work lights front and rear, spare is kept in a wheel carrier within the Ivor Williams rear tub, X Eng booster cables and twin battery set up. It has an imolbilser which sets itself after about 30 seconds. It has a power upgrade and pulls very well. Tyres are ok but spare is only good as a spare. The roof rack is full length and extends over the bonnet, it has been cut to accept a roof tent which is availble seperately. I have been looking at the prices of these for a few weeks and they are loadsa money, the cheapest I have seen for this year is £8250. I think this must be worth £5,500. Unfortunately it is plus VAT.
  6. We use a petrol power pack on our log splitter, we also some times couple it to our JCB mini digger when on site.
  7. We use road pins but they are no good if you are filling the bags on concrete which I guess most people dont.
  8. X reg, 90k miles, white crew cab drop side tipper, passed MoT yesterday, clean and tidy for year, one or two little quirks but nothing to worry about and all the body work is straight and tidy.   9. Very true and a good analogy but the fact is some people will do things they shouldn't and not realise the consequences. For me the main point is only one person to use the machine at a time, that doesn't mean another lad cannot help, there is always plenty to do, prepare and load timber, keep the conveyor clear, sort the tractor out, move the bulk bags if you use them, etc, etc.

  13. No need to take a kicking for doing some thing that is legal. I used to snare foxes during the early 70's. Money was tight then, miners strikes, Maggie Thatcher, 3 day week and all that. Our fox pelts were worth more than europeans because we are rabies free, catching foxes was not a pastime or hobby it was a way to make money to put clothes on the kids. Never quite got the hang of snaring rabbits though, much easier to just shoot them. Times change and all I ever shoot now is vermin.

  15. Did anyone read the article (about 18 months ago) about the guy who caught a Squirrel in a live trap and put it in a tub of water to kill it, RSPCA took him to court and he was fined £1500. Not sure how they expect you kill a Squirrel in a live trap, guess you could take it to the RSPCA!.
  16. The justice system is up the spout, reading the evening paper last night and two lads by us got caught fishing without a rod license, both got £115 fines. Nothing violent there but they broke the law so I guess that's that. On the same page a guy had been claiming benefits for over ten years, he had claimed £60,000. what did he get then...............a 32 month prison sentance.................... suspended for two years.
  17. It could be dozen or more things, I would suggest you take it to a garage and get it plugged in, you could spend a lot of money chaging many things which is only guess work at the moment.

Almost every answer so far has mentioned nesting birds which I am aware of, this of course also applies to trees, shrubs and all places where a bird could nest including the Blue Tits currently nesting in the crane on my Unimog which is now grounded until they have fledged. I am sure we find work with trees between March and November so wheres the difference between felling, thinning, reducing, coppicing, pollarding trees and doing what is basically trimming a hedge. What I am looking for if there is one is, is there a biological reason?. Let me ask the question a different way, assuming a hedge has been surveyed and found there are no nest's and neither are any birds building nest's is there any reason why it could not be laid during the month of May. I have never heard of a law that say's you cannot work on a hedge between March and September. I know it should be avoided but that is not law. With regard to telling him to get lost, he has asked a question, he has not asked me to destroy or interfere with any nest's. If I find a reason why it cannot be laid then so be it. I have sent an e mail to the hedge laying asso but their office is closed until 21st May, must all be busy laying hedges:001_tt2:.
  20. I have a Lumbermate sawmill in Wolverhampton, could possibly collect it from you on our hiab lorry and plank it up.
  21. I have a client who wants his hedge laid now, I have explained it's not the season but he is adamant he wants it done. Apart from the obvious potential bird nest issues is there a reason why he can't get it done now.
  22. You mean tacho records? and I think you will find the distance increased a couple of years ago to 100kms from base (but I could be wrong). Double cab transits and similar are ok for little day to day jobs but if you are on anything serious you realy need a 7.5 tonne and be done with it, saves all the running around back to the yard to empty the truck and the running cost once you have your licence is not that much more but you can save on fuel which will be dearer tomorrow and the day after and the day after that and on and on. We are being stopped more and more around the black country for VOSA road side checks, police checks and in particular waste carriers licence, red diesel checks and quite often when towing a chipper which does not have the company logo we get stopped to check if the chipper is nicked which is a good thing.

I would certainly like more than £2500 and if I needed a truck like this that is what I would expect to pay, However, I am selling and not buying, I no longer need the truck because we have replaced it with a new one. I put it at £2500 to test the market, its not like selling a mars bar where every one is the same price where ever you go, its worth what some one will pay for it. Hope this helps explain my thinking which is not always right.
  24. I put it on ebay for £2500 but although it's a good truck its not everyones cup of tea so realistically I guess £1950.
  25. Now come on keep up, he moved jobs and the black guy took over and now and again he pops in for a coffee and slip Sarah Suicide and quickie. Anyway, can we get back to selling this bloody truck, the rear tail board has been personally sign by Grissum if that makes a difference and the rear tool box doubles up as a bunk bed for working away.
