  1. I agree and I will but I just need to do an hours work with it, if tomorrow was a week day it wouldn't be an issue, bloody thing broke at 4pm, by the time I had got the spanners and decidied we couldn't do it it was to late to call anyone out.
  2. I think it would simply snap the connection.
  3. Had a pipe go on the Unimog today and cannot get the union to budge due to corrosion, if I do manage to get it off I know it's going to break the connector. I will the get all the pipes changed as they all look like they have seen better days but I could do with using the mog tomorrow (Saturday). I know there are fittings availble to temporary repair flexi pipes, has any one used them and are they any good.
  4. £50, that's cheap, I normally around £125. at a guy in Telford.
  5. We have always had Timberwolf but I could not tell you the name of their rep whearas I know Pete and Solomon as they keep in touch. We recently bought a quadchip and are well pleased with it so when we decided to buy a new tracked machine we had a quadtrack on demo. I personally think we demo'd the wrong machine, it did not suit our needs and had we have had the arbtrack on demo I think we would have ordered one there and then because the arbtrack is a cracking machine. However, Solomon came along with the Forst and that's the one we have gone for and our new one should be with us later this month.
  6. We use Google earth streetview quite a lot or at least have done in the past, when I go on it now there are grey boxes which move around the screen as I move the cursor. Any one know whats going on?.
  7. Got to agree with Skyhuck, dunno how anyone can be disrespectful to a guy in such a remorseful situation without knowing the facts.
  8. Do you do them to order or do you have an idea then make it and hope to sell it.
  9. Sorry to hear that, they are stealing around two or three a week by us at the moment. They are also taking the bonnet and doors from defenders and headlights from discovery's
  10. I may be wrong but just because you wrap a strop around some thing it does not increase its strength, you will still be left with two ends that are 5 tonne SWL. If you use a sling and wrap it around then it will increase.
  11. I would suggest Big Bolt is right, plasma or dyneema from Goodwinch and then when it overlays it doesnt matter, in fact the more it overlays the better as it stops it from tightening on itself. If you should happen to snap it there is little or no recoil unlike steel where you need to use a winch blanket every time. Only draw back is the cost, plasma is 5 or 6 times the cost of steel but stronger. The winch on my Unimog is fed onto the drum equaly but I have never seen this on a 12v fitted to a Land Rover, I doubt the above would be strong enough. David Bowyer at Goodwinch do a device which does work, it halves the drum with a plate that slides over the front of the fairlead but I think it is only suitable for Dyneema or Plasma. Check out page 5 of his price list. http://www.dborc.co.uk/goodwinch/
  12. Personally I think multi tip teeth are a complete wate of time, I have so many sets sitting in a bucket with only one or maybe two of the front teeth worn and the sides virtually untouched. 2nd hand Predator, keep spare belts to hand and also check for wear on the drive sprocket teeth. Clutches can be a pain.

  16. I am not to concerned about load capacity but the fact we can move timber off sites. We have done so much site clearance this year away from home or just that bit to far to take the tractor and it can tow a trailer if need be. I haven't had chance to get it on a weighbridge yet but we have had it fully loaded on site and it carries the weight with ease.

  19. agg221 and Rhob the log, I will check on sizes and get back to you but most of the trees are mature. I know the one Sequoia is 25m. I think the Cedar is a Atlantica Forgot to mention there is also a Hornbeam and some Hawthorn.
  20. Mark, I have an artic load available Nr Claverley, mainly softwood but also some Ash and Sycamore mixed in. Can you collect or do you need it delivered.
  21. If anyone is interested we will have available during April and in Wolverhampton mature Black and Scots Pine, Redwood, Walnut, Sycamore, Horse Chestnut, Silver Birch, Rowan, Oak, Ailanthus, Cherry, Cedar, Holly, Lime, Laburnam, Yew and Laurel. Could deliver small loads of 3 tonne in 4 mtr lengths or can arrange larger loads. Bob 01902 892652
  22. Well what can I say except if you want a biscuit with your cup of tea you better bring your own:001_tt2:. However, if Andy comes he can have chocloate biscuits:001_smile:.
  23. Read your previous post Pete:confused1:.
  24. I have seen the Alstor in operation and there realy is no equal comparison, most certainly a quad, mini digger or compact will not move the same amount of tonnage per day and is unlikely to stand the pace over a prolonged period of time. The Alstor is built for a purpose and if you have the need then they are the tool for the job. Basically I agree with areleywood
