  1. We are taking down 6no Pops tomorrow, 7th June. If anyone is interested in the wood please PM or call 01902 892652. Its FOC, all approx 1mtr dia at base.
  2. If or when I get it all together I will post a bit of video.
  3. Series doors are much lighter as you cannot have wind up windows on a two piece door. Series doors come with a slam catch which you can change for anti-burst which are better. The hinges on a series door are different.
  4. No but getting closer, going for some paint on the roll cage next week while everything is still loose then off to have the electrics done and bolt it all back together so not far away now. Body panels have already been sprayed not that there's many of them.
  5. Your right skyhook, you dont get it, if you look closely next to each spring is a hydraulic ram which are controlled from the cab, you can push them out to give you the clearance you need, as the rams go out the width of the truck comes in, you will be able to lift one wheel off the floor if you wish or when on a side slope push the two downward rams out to keep the truck level. The pic you see is with no pressure on the rams and therefore the truck sitting low, a bit like the motorway button on a Range Rover, better for speed. 6. We are currently building a buggy (Landymog) and have used Unimog portals welded on to Land Rover axles. The worst part was getting the half shafts made to fit from the diff to the drop boxes. Landy mog 1.jpg landy mog2.jpg
  7. Your right Andy it is a Warn but modified by Gigglepin, it has two 8hp motors fed by two 75AH batteries which are switchable 12v/24v, it's ok to winch in on 24v but must lower out on 12v. It also has air free spool so you can just walk out with the rope. There are two of these on the truck (one front and back) plus another winch in the middle. Controls are in the cab and also external. There is a third battery which simply does the trucks electrics. At the last event it ended up shaped like a rugby ball and was making a hissing noise and smelt a little bit like cow muck, I realy thought it was going to blow.
  8. about the only think it doesn't have is a tow bar extrem.jpg extrem4.jpg extrem2.jpg
  9. I have a small spraying job in Hull, if your interested please let me know either PM or call 01902 892652 Bob It's probably only a mornings work unfortunately.

  11. We use a couple of our land Rovers for winch competitions, we did the Welsh extreme over the bank holiday which was a three day event, the Friday was prologue and night stage, Saturday was special stages and Sunday was 43 punches. We came 14 out of 33 so not to bad, we finished a bit early on Sunday as one of the batteries got a bit hot and is now oval shape, thought the fire extinguisher was going to come into play but we managed to islolate it and all was good The truck ready to go after scrutineering Welsh extrem.jpg We take the kids with us Welsh extrem dan and demi.jpg We are on the far bank winching up out of a gully Welsh extrem 2.jpg
  12. I have an artic load of 6 month old Corsican, why do you want soft wood Johnny?.
  13. I think it may be an A lister otherwise know as John Travolta masquerading as a tree surgeon.
  14. It turned up yesterday and realy does punch above it's weight. It is spot on, used friendly, quick and does eveything you want from a chipper. Time will tell as it gets used and abused. Forst.jpg
  15. I managed to get it into the planting pit and upright on my own, the Mog winch has a wander lead and the Land Rover has a remote control so it was quite easy to get it upright. I have used four guy ropes and given the roots a good soaking and sprayed the foliage. It is approx 6 mts from a pond so water is not an issue. It's up to mother nature now. 2013-05-18 07.02.05.jpg 2013-05-19 10.52.20.jpg 2013-05-19 10.52.37.jpg
  16. Is he ever on here do you know.
  17. Wrapping them would have been nice, I was hoping the wet weather was going to help but the soil was a bit sandy and quite a bit fell away. Not quite the front lawn but not far away Johny, Dawn is quite easy going but I think I would be sleeping with the dogs tonight.
  18. We have recently taken down a line of 10m tall 40 year old Redwoods, we had the JCB on site so I thought we just might try transplanting one of them, they have got to go anyway so theres nothing to loose. Unfortunately the one we picked had been planted on top of a soakaway so there wasn't as much root as we anticipated. its on the trailer.jpg spot the mog.jpg hitched up.jpg strapin it down.jpg ready to go.jpg
  19. We have a small job in Polsham (by Glastonbury) which is probably only a days work for a three man team. The job involves some conifers to trim, some conifers to fell, a Willow to fell and a Silver Birch and Plum to cut back from a building. None of it is very big or demanding. You would need a truck and chipper or at least some where to dispose of chippings and a small amount of timber. We would have a couple of our lads on site so realy it's just to give them a chuck so to speak. Bob 01902 892652
  20. Just a little update, I managed to get them to go to site with a copy of the report, they found all the trees and have accepted our 211 so alls good
  21. Is it me, am I being a PITA or am I right. I have submitted a 211 Notice for for some work on a small site, I have included a full and concise report which contains photo's of each tree to be worked on together with a brief description of where each tree is located. I have also included a seperate google earth plan showing the site boundaries clearly marked. The LPA will not validate the notification as they want a site plan showing the trees to be worked on and marked individually, I have said they have this information on the google earth plan and the report. They are adamant the trees must be marked individually on a plan, the blue book does not say this, it says the notice has to include sufficient particulars to identify the trees. Chapter 9 – Trees in conservation areas Delete paragraph 9.4 Insert new paragraph 9.4 A section 211 notice does not have to be in any particular form. But it must describe the work proposed and include sufficient particulars to identify the trees. It may be helpful to use the standard application form provided by the Secretary of State for work to trees protected by a TPO, although the LPA cannot insist on its use. Am I right or wrong, should they validate or have I got to supply the plan marked up.
  22. I have a client who we have recently felled a few trees for and he is interested in retaining some of his timber for carvings, is there anyone on arbtalk who would work in Wolverhampton, it's ok it's one more the nicer parts (and there arn't many). The timber is Redwood.
  23. A guy we do some work for ask this question today, he has several large root balled trees waiting to be planted as part of a contract and a bird has begun building a nest in one of them, what can he do, very little I would imagine. I suggested (and this is only a suggestion which I made clear) he might be able to move it 2/3 metres a day until it was in position without the bird even knowing and not disturbing her.
