  1. I have lent my copy of BS 3998 to some one and cannot remember who so if you are the person reading this could I have it back please:001_cool:. Pollarding - I know in the old standard it said basically, if a tree has been pollarded before then it's ok to pollard it again. Does anyone know if that aspect still stands within the new BS and if so what is the reference.
  2. I hadn't spotted that, it clearly say's in the top of the ad 'Mercedes Sprinter Greenmech chipper shredder' which tends to imply the truck is with it, no wonder it seemed such a good buy.
  3. The scaffolders can, it's the guy putting the new roof on doesn't want a Yew branch up his arse:001_tt2:.
  4. Paul, option 1 is a good idea if we had some cloud anchors and as you know, option 2 is not an option. It's a bit frustrating to say the least but on reflection they have bought it about themselves by not getting us in sooner to maintain the tree.
  5. take a look at this Mercedes Sprinter Green Mech Chipper shredder mulcher truck mounted chipper | eBay
  6. A lot of thought must have gone into making this and it seems like a lot of kit for little money Mercedes Sprinter Green Mech Chipper shredder mulcher truck mounted chipper | eBay
  7. £30 is cheap, what amount of kit does that cover.
  8. I believe 'actionable nuisance' will not apply as the tree and pub are owned by the same company. There must be some way under the circumstances that work work can commence, it serves no one's best interest for the pub to lose money or put the building at greater risk of further damage simply because of bureaucracy. Thanks for your thoughts Paul, have you ever done a risk assessment on, a dark night, balaclava and silky:angryfire:.
  9. They do not need to make a TPO as the tree is not under threat, but they could if they had a mind to, you just never know for sure do you.
  10. I have explained the situation but it seems to fall on deaf ears. I guess if it was with a tree officer who we knew it may be different but all the same you would think common sense would prevail. The TO has dug his heels in and is adamant it will take minimum three weeks. While this is going on the pub is closed and it does actually look a right eyesore with heras fencing around it.
  11. This is the situation. pub has a fire, fire burns hole in the roof, pub is shut for repairs, one of the repairs is to mend the big hole in the roof, tree next to pub overhangs and touches roof, scaffolding can be erected but repairs cannot take place until tree is trimmed. Pub and tree are in a Conservation Area so notice to LPA is required. Tree officer says it will take three weeks to process, repairs are booked in for next week = problem:confused1:.
  12. Very true and I believe you can find out your colour code, just can't remember how to do it.
  13. VOSA have to get results to ensure their viability and show they are needed, they look for older trucks, dirty trucks, trucks towing trailers, insecure loads etc. If your towing a trailer your more likely to have a fault as you have more items for them to check and therefore it looks good on their monthly reports.
  14. It isn't always quite that simple or straight forward. We got stopped by VOSA 6 weeks after having an MoT, they found a fault which was not readily evident unless you got underneath the vehicle, my lads fill in a drivers defect report form for every vehicle they drive every day but crawling underneath is not part of a daily check, that is down to our mechanic every six weeks. We had to repair the truck road side which took all day by the time we got the part, we then had to present it for another test (although it had been tested 6 weeks ago), we took it for retest and the last thing they check at the MoT is the headlights, my driver turned the lights on and the bulb went while the inspector was looking at it, he actually saw the light come on and go out, he failed the truck and we had to go away, replace the bulb and go back again. I agree that poorly maintained trucks are a pest but some times things do just not go in your favour, if VOSA has stopped us the following week our mechanic would most likey had spotted the fault and recified it as it was due for the 6 week inspection. However, towing a trailer without knowing what your licence allows is a bit daft in my opinion
  15. To be honest if I had to transport something which overhung in excess of the above I would get a longer vehicle:001_cool:.
  16. This was being discussed on Land Rover forum and I thought it would be applicable to a few of us at some point. Basically I think it means (and if you fully understand it you are a better man than me) you can have a maximum 3 mtr rear overhang without a marker and a 2 mtr forward overhang. Not sure how far you can go with a marker?. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1986/1078/regulation/11/made
  17. I didn't realise they had been making them that long.
  18. I understand what your getting at but just because the chassis is altered doesn't necessarly mean a Q plate. There are changes you can make without it needing Q plate or SVA. If I get 5 mins I will dig out the list. Getting back to the original post, our 130 had a long body which over hung the back like this one and the first we did was cut 30cms off it, just to tempting for the lads to overload it, especially the back axle.
  19. It's all those bloody speed bumps in the Black Country.
  20. Just got round to making a new chip box for the 130. Not had chance to spray it yet and it's got to go to work in the morning so maybe next week, will be red rusty by then I think. 2013-04-12 16.53.31.jpg 2013-04-12 16.53.46.jpg 2013-04-12 16.54.00.jpg
  21. The pipe which burst is the top one of these two which you can see is beginning to corrode Mog pipe.jpg I managed to loosen the nut with the two hammer technique and and get it apart, took it to the local agri merchant who made up a nice new pipe....................with different ends to mine so I didn't gain anything, the correct ends will be with them tomorrow.
  22. The delivery of our Forst tracked machine has been put back a couple of weeks because they are apparantly fitting a different pump which will make it track faster:thumbup1:.
  23. Heat might help free the union but what about the possibility of the oil catching fire?.
  24. In this instance I doubt it would work.
