  1. Did the decay go down very far?
  2. Probably Perenniporia fraxinea. What were the roots like?
  3. I`ve had this with mine. Even with the loose chain. I took it back and after trying to convince me there was nothing wrong with it the dealer changed the pot and piston. It still does it but not quite as bad. I do find it very annoying. After about 20 tanks the power increases but it is still prone to sticking and stalling. I`d be interested to see how you get on. Does everyones 201t do this or is it just a few? I just can`t be bothered to take it back and get it looked at again.
  4. I would suggest that for most trees a single line and lanyard is fine. It will make you climb differently. However, do things at your own pace.
  5. What he said. All I`d add is that I keep a spare prussik on my harness so that should I want to use both ends the option is there. It`s a good habit for rescue purposes to keep a spare prussik anyway.
  6. A rock harness doesn't have the side d`s on it but I`m sure it`s okay to climb about a bit in.
  7. Trees Their use management cultivation and biology by Bob Watson is an excellent book, well worth the money, up to date and covers most of what you need to know. I would say it`s probably a more up to date book than the arboriculturalists companion. Stupsi is certainly a book everyone should read as is Lonsdale.
  8. If it`s fresh and not full of insects its splendid sliced and fried in butter.
  9. Poplar rings!!!! Shame about the lock though.
  10. I think the RFS is more comprehensive but the ISA is a good home study option. If I wanted to learn more and go onto the level 4 I would like to do the RFS first. Having said that you may well have missed the boat on the RFS so ISA would fill the time till the level 4 comes up again.
  11. They are both useful books and so I would say both. Quite a lot of the later chapters of Diagnosis and Prognosis are available in some form as articles in the arb journal. Non of Fungal strategies is available, to my limited knowledge, anywhere else. Fungal strategies is quite an academic book where as Diagnosis has more on application it is also more readable imo. As far as I know they are both out of print so if you can get either or both I would. I don`t claim to be an expert by the way. Just my opinions.
  12. You definitely want to make sure you do some work when it`s fruiting. They`re well tasty.
  13. Green fruit is probably greengage.
  14. Yeah, i noticed the amazing banana man. He loves cranes now. Cranes are definitely cool.
  15. Keep a prussic on your harness.
  16. That sucks mate. I hope you heal well and quickly. This kind of think could happen to anyone.
  17. The Rc3001 is a great bit of kit but it is heavy. If the Rc2001 is lighter i would think that would be a good one to go for. I have an RC2000 but its horrible to use.
  18. It looks a bit like whatever it was has been pulled off.
  19. It`s quite a blast from the past being back. I did the ten week course there about ten years ago. Jack Kenyon is teaching which I`m happy about. Jack is a legend and a great teacher.
  20. I`m at Merrist Wood. I think you`ll find reading up first really helpful, I`m so glad I did a year swatting before doing it and I`ve saved so much money going to Merrist Wood.

  22. I`m really enjoying it so far. It`s fairly intense but I feel like I`ve done a lot of background reading and am ready for it. I would think if you spend the next year reading and understanding the reading list you`ll be more than ready.
