  1. After dealing with these pest for a while I came to the same conclusion. I never answer to with held numbers 0800`s or unrecognized dialing codes. It saves a lot of wasted time.
  2. My guess would be Robinia too.
  3. My guess would be Robinia too.
  4. That`s useful information. Cheers.
  5. I wasn't actually aware that you could go just for the talk. BBQ and rigging videos with Graeme McMahon sounded quite appealing although I don`t suppose I would have traveled that far for an evening talk. It`s a shame more people didn't go. Perhaps it's a case of the people who they were hoping to attract didn't read the literature, maybe it would be worth the AA making more of a deal on line prior to these sorts of events. (Not a criticism just a suggestion)
  6. The ISA certified arborist course is a good introduction. You buy a study guide and do the exam when you are ready.
  7. I have worked with Joe a lot. He is ultra reliable, hard working and friendly. I would definitely recommend him.
  8. It certainly does look like the whorl has stopped the split. It`s surprising how long things can hang on sometimes. Presumably if the tree was open grown it would have split out all the way a while ago. Interesting photo
  9. It`s a bit difficult to tell from a photo but that doesn't look that old to me. Perhaps a season or two.
  10. It`s probably worth adding that this kind of growth callus is probably also present on the other half of the inclusion too. This could have lead to Mattheck`s `big ears` if the crack had continued to open and close or `little ears` if it had successfully sealed itself. In this case obviously it did not. As you have observed the failure may well have no major decay fungi involved, simply a mechanical weakness.
  11. Looking at the pictures I would say the included fork had already given way a bit and had put on a small amount of callus growth. Not really the same as wall 4 as I understand it but the doesn't `t mean it didn't `t also form a wall 4
  12. I`ve got alot of that already but there`s a few grands worth there. You may be able to library some of it and you may find others on your course who may share some stuff. I would say some titles would be more worth owning than others. It rather depends on how much background knowledge you have.
  13. I just cut mine off, got fed up getting caught in stuff. When I was in my twenties I had hair down to my backside. No photos in existence of that era though.
  14. I`ll see you there then. Anyone else going?
  15. Good luck with the Diploma. I have sent you the level 4 list, you will find it is way more info than you need for now but in the long run would constitute a splendid library . I would suggest getting a level 2 reading list and if you don`t have it then try and get a copy of the certified arborist study guide (also level 2) it is an excellent all round book and a good foundation for the level 2 diploma. It`s possible to spend a lot of money on books so you want to get best value for money. Ali
  16. I`ve forwarded it to you. I`m doing it at Merrist Wood. Despite Westonbirt being just down the road from me the price difference made the journey more than worth while IMO. Also teaching is weekly which I like.
  17. I imagine there will be similar books on both lists. Hope it goes well.
  18. No it`s not. The diploma is a level 4. I think the foundation degree is a level 5.
  19. Cheers David , a bit of light bed time reading there
  20. I`m starting the level 4 diploma soon and was wondering if anyone has a reading list from last year they wouldn't mind sharing. Thanks
