  1. This is a MK1 1928 Safetrak on a GH94 (non beaver tail). It fits exactly the same on the BT (which we now run) but I don’t have any pics of them to hand. I’m sure the current Safetrak is the same dimensions if you can find details on line. Note the front step ‘parks’ over the bucket rest. We had two of these on the 10 inch wheels from new (2700kg gross) and kept snapping leaf-springs towing these chippers - we subsequently upgraded to the double leaf springs of the 3500kg trailers and never had another issue. The GAP spec version comes with the heavy duty springs which I suggest are essential.
  2. If you do go for the GH94 get the GAP spec version with the uprated suspension and heavy duty tyres. You’ll need a factory spacer for the hitch if you have it on a ball hitch (it’s on a ring hitch as standard).
  3. A GM1928 Safetrak fits the GH94 as though it was designed for it - it goes on with the feed hopper at the back so can be fed on the trailer. There is even more room if you load it the other way around - I’m sure the Jenson will fit tbh.
  4. I’ve just bought a 16 foot Bateson triaxle tilt-bed and seem to be using it for everything - it is incredibly useful! I wouldn’t be without a tipper though - nothing else can do what they do and I’d get rid of mine after everything else.
  5. The GH plant trailers are a lot better than the other Ifor plant trailers in my experience. Get a 3.5 tonne version (or otherwise make sure it has uprated double leaf springs). 12x6 tipper is a good shout though, they are the most useful ‘Swiss Army Knife’ trailers out there. If I only had one trailer it would be one of those without question.
  6. If money is no object decide EXACTLY what you want/need and work back from there (and potentially get it built)! What are you doing with it? Do you need crane speed or ultimate lifting capability? Are you using it in first thinnings/clearfell/clearing up behind arb teams etc? Does it need to be road legal? What are you dragging it around with? Do you need to be able to carry 6/10/20 tonnes on it? Does it need to float across soft ground?
  7. Is there a history of subsidence? How ‘deep’ a survey are you paying for?

  9. I reckon you might still be able to get a 1928 Safetrak diesel if you are quick as they bought a massive stock of the ‘old’ Diesel engines (but it might be too late now). They also have a new ‘big’ chipper apparently in late stages of development that might be worth waiting for? I’ve not heard many good stories from people running Forst over a longer period of time (but in fairness it’s always bad news that gets shouted about).

  11. The rototilts are superb - you really miss them when you take them off! You can do a lot of work without moving/tracking which has its benefits. Definitely glad I bit the bullet originally, you just have to see past the initial price!...
  12. E27 - not a zero, but not a massive tail on it (even with the extra counterweight I spec’d mine with). They also do an E27z which is a zero but it is less powerful/has lower oil flow etc. They both look pretty much identical though. Here are some pics of it - I’m struggling to find any showing the overhang though (I’d guess it’s about 12 inches).
  13. 6 tonner, but it will also go on my 2.7 tonne Bobcat as they share the same hitch size. I’ll report back once it’s had a decent workout!

  19. Cheers chaps. It’s for a bit of hobby-milling tbh - we end up with timber that either gets logged or biomassed and I’ve got a few DIY jobs where I fancy making something from start to finish. The Woodland Mills look incredible value, their YouTube vids certainly sell the product well too! I am after some first-hand feedback though ideally - if they are a bit Mickey Mouse then I’d rather hold on to my dosh and get a mate to mill the timber for me. I do fancy one though!!!
  20. As per the thread title - would you buy a new petrol static Woodland Mills 130 Max or if not, what similarly priced alternative would you go for (and why)?
