  1. This'd be a good start IMO Rigging box 1 | F R Jones and Son You can add bits, beef up bits as and when you need/figure out what works for you/what you need
  2. Backfired a bit when hes promoted that the competition has a pretty smart product
  3. Something like these but without the studs perhaps? a little more aggressive than road tyres. REA - Vinterdäck Nokian,Pirelli kvalitetsdäck | Stockholm
  4. I used to do it with my high sided hilux and brash/logs with a builders bag sliced down the edges to lay on bed, headboard and bit over the cab, ropes hanging out the back. Worked we'll for me as had an old pole near the bonfire area to tie off on Chips a fair bit denser though
  5. Wtf?? Do you race F1 cars? No? Oh so you think you're the best driver ever then? Just because I don't feel the need to prove my abilities don't assume I think I'm the best? I know I'm a productive climber, I know that, and I learn through working with other productive climbers, trade shows with like minded individuals, here even. I'm not going to waste 3 days just because some guy in the internet says so. There needs to be a good incentive, that's all.
  6. Id want it worth my while to take part, taking part and getting a limited edition freebie would make me feel special, and the chance to win something decent and of value would really get me intrested. I don't feel the need to prove my climbing abilities to anyone, so there needs to be something material in it.
  7. I've attended a few of the comps over here (not recently mind) there's comps for newbies (not just students but those experienced who don't want to make a tit of themselves in the "pro" tree) that's a plus point I think I done the one mark mentioned at jonsies, that was cool, very relaxed, no elitist feeling, being hungover diddnt matter. That's the only comp I've ever entered as I don't see anything in it or me. However, prizes would attract me, like 1st prize: a grand to spend at the show, 2nd: chainsaw, 3rd: access rope, best newbie wins a climbing saw, quickest rescue gets an arb aid kit. Every entrant gets a limited edition/branded helmet or something It needs to be held at an established POPULAR arb show, and with good notice (once again over here its 4weeks notice which just isn't enough-I for one travel alot and buy flight tickets 2-3 months in advance)
  8. I don't know, don't care and don't see the relevance I'll continue to give a range of options to best suit individual trees and customers, you can stick with the one
  9. I'm not dead wrong, that is quite out of the ordinary. So a quick search on the internet and you're an expert in uk weather? Do you think we brace trees randomly in forests? The chances of a tree that's been braced in the uk catching fire is slim to non
  10. And what if a static brace isn't suitable for the application then????? Fire? Falling limbs? Rodents? You're clutching at straws there, is that what you fob off to clients to install you're preferred cable method? Uv degradation? Well that's why it's important to fit the date tags, monitor and replace at recommended intervals set by the manufacture Galvanized steel if damaged at the installation stage can still rust and fail Both methods have there place
  11. Fire is not part of the natural environment to a tree in the UK, it would be quite out of the ordinary. ( this is a predominately UK based forum, the OP based in the UK too) No one is dead wrong, a true professional would be able to see the benefits and pitfalls of both styles of bracing, not just be blinkered into using one style only.
  12. Interesting views, so steel doesn't rust, bolts don't loosen, wires don't pull through???? I cannot recall seeing or hearing of a failed cobra or similar system in the last 10years in the uk or Scandinavia, yet have seen failed, broken static systems at least every 6months..... Common sence to me would suggest that either system fitted in a tree you obviously have concerns over structural integerity should be inspected on a regular basis And yeah, if a client wants to invest in the life, safety ond health of there tree they're gonna have to pay for it
  13. I used to drive an Iveco eurocargo 7.5t tipper, P plate i think, Was a fantastic chip truck Also drove a mercedes tipper, not nearly as nice, wallowed around a lot
  14. Going astray from the original topic, iveco 65 something towing beaver tail plant trailer, air brakes, hydraulic tail, 11t payload sorry for the upside-down pic
  15. If they've got email, and want the quote sent via email, they sound quite technologically upto date, they've probabally got a mobile phone too
  16. Send a text the same time as the email, something like, "A quotation has been sent to your email inbox, please check the spam folder too! best regards, Scott Farmborough"
  17. 17" to be precise/nerdy the 127 (stretched 110 chassis) was renamed a 130 with the introduction of the 200tdi (plus its own dedicated chassis) but the wheelbase remained 127. likewise the 90 is actually 93" Looking forward to seeing the OPs project
  18. It says thirtieth not thirteenth
  19. The zigzag is very user friendly, the sj took a bit of getting used too, (i never gave it enough time tbh) and was extremely jumpy on pine sapped rope-annoying so much I got angry. Haven't noticed any grabby or jumpy ness with the zigzag yet, but don't think my ropes been too sappy wet. Good on yet rope Zigzag for me anyways, very easy to use
  20. Would that make a difference in this instance though? seeing as the original orange stihl earmuffs are peltor/3m, and the ones carlos wants to fit are also peltor 3m-you're just upgrading the level of protection. The optime 3 red and black ones make a hell of alot of difference compared to the standard stihl/3m or msa muffs normally fitted to the vertex helmet
  21. My girlfriends company bust the boom on their 600series avant lifting a stone, not helped by the offset lifting The smaller machines-the 500series and below avantd will fit on a normal tipper no problem I've subbed to a company with a 745 with forestry style grapple on a rotator with a winch too which was excellent
  22. They fit if you use the stihl mounting kit and stihl visor
  23. I used to use the 1623(?) safetrac, then a 190 fixed track timberwolf, the safe trac system was ace for the ground conditions here (lots of surface rocks) and it winded its way up and down slopes the tw would have needed winching up/down
  24. And the price of husqvarna in its native Sweden is about 30% or more higher than the uk....
