  1. The zigzag is very user friendly, the sj took a bit of getting used too, (i never gave it enough time tbh) and was extremely jumpy on pine sapped rope-annoying so much I got angry. Haven't noticed any grabby or jumpy ness with the zigzag yet, but don't think my ropes been too sappy wet. Good on yet rope Zigzag for me anyways, very easy to use
  2. Would that make a difference in this instance though? seeing as the original orange stihl earmuffs are peltor/3m, and the ones carlos wants to fit are also peltor 3m-you're just upgrading the level of protection. The optime 3 red and black ones make a hell of alot of difference compared to the standard stihl/3m or msa muffs normally fitted to the vertex helmet
  3. My girlfriends company bust the boom on their 600series avant lifting a stone, not helped by the offset lifting The smaller machines-the 500series and below avantd will fit on a normal tipper no problem I've subbed to a company with a 745 with forestry style grapple on a rotator with a winch too which was excellent
  4. They fit if you use the stihl mounting kit and stihl visor
  5. I used to use the 1623(?) safetrac, then a 190 fixed track timberwolf, the safe trac system was ace for the ground conditions here (lots of surface rocks) and it winded its way up and down slopes the tw would have needed winching up/down
  6. And the price of husqvarna in its native Sweden is about 30% or more higher than the uk....
  7. Cool, is there more than one ring on some strops? Could you set it up like a ropeguide/pulley saver so its retrievable? If you could that would be fantastic
  8. Found this interesting Chernobyl's Trees Won't Decay, Increasing the Risk of Nuclear Forest Fire | Motherboard
  9. I use one, does have its limits, its bulky, not good on dead trees (used it on a slight back leaning dying/dead spruce, just ended up popping it up off the hinge resulting in te tree going backwards) But very effective once you use it a bit Those prices are a bit steep
  10. Awesome thank you Topping down strop-http://www.landmarktrading.co.uk/arborist-equipment/lowering-equipment/lowering-strops/topping-down-strop.asp
  11. Can you post some pics of the rings in the slings please? Looks similar to old skool topping down strops
  12. That was some great rigging in the latter half of the vid!
  13. I worked with a guy who used them, he got on really well with it, and the saw after he used the guide would cut more aggressively than a new chain. I tried it but not for me
  14. cheers the tops that came out were about 3-4m long give or take, so height reduction was around 3m on most
  15. Birch reductions from today Bit of an urban myth (i think) over here that birches cant be pruned or reduced??? Thoughts? 5 reduced, 3 pruned and a pine pruned today, about 5 hours climbing time, half an hour swearing at the throwline some pictures are of the same tree from different views Reductions: the Pine prune and 2 of the 3 Birchs pruned
  16. Have you brought it Adam? I saw what it made on eBay and was a bit shocked, but after my 560 broke down badly for the fourth time in as many months I understand why you paid a fair wack for it!
  17. Aspen straight from the pump into the combi cans
  18. Unlimited within reason Cheers Steve
  19. What sort of weights would you be confident dropping onto that?
  20. That's pretty much what I do. But have been asked for a static rope or suitable rope to compliment a new speedline setup
  21. Recommendations please Or what "normal" rigging rope is good on speedlines
  22. I prefer my husky technical extreme type a over my pfanner stretch airs type a
  23. Do you have a uk or French licence? How does it work with insurance when you pick it up to drive it over? Do you plan on registering it in France with French plates?
  24. Worked in -30, heavy snow Ropes and hitches freeze solid, carabiners freeze, skin sticks to metal, trees can be very brittle The novelty soon wears off I know of company's that go home at -25
