youre a stripper! try a 10week course at somewhere like merrist wood, near guildford, you will get your 4 basic tickets cs30/31 (saw maintenance and small fell) cs38/39(climbing tickets) 2days theory-covering all the basics from tree identification, to biology, a day doing maintenance including tractors, chippers, saws, and 2 days practicle doing climbing/felling (a week) some people will slate the 10week option, as they think its too short, but if youre a natural, it will give you a fantastic insight to the industry and quite a bit of knowledge, a good foundation to base yourself on, for all aspects of tree surgery/forestry

on my hgv test last year the instructor was saying this too, any vehicle used for buisness capable of going over 3.5t inc trailer is supposed to have a tacho, there may be exemptions, but that was my understanding, i too was in a bit of disbelief

i think they weigh around 1100kg? possibly more? feel heavy, god theyre heavy, especially for only a 6inch machine. did like the option to adjust the roller speed on them. used the turntable maybe 1 in 50 jobs, but only a a luxuary really. used one alongside a timberwolf 150 for 5-6months, and given the choice i would always prefer the timberwolf, T/W threw the chip further by about 2-3M, lighter, easier to manhandle, changing the blades is simpler, as on the jbm, you have to re-set them each time as the blade gets shorter with each sharpen. seem to remember dealer back-up wasnt 100% either. tbh i wouldnt pay 5k for the one on e-arb

you can bypass the voltage regulator by running a wire from the positive (i think) on the alternator to the battery as a quick fix

why go for something you wont enjoy? i know too many people who are depressed about their job, are now stuck with it, so get more depressed but think 'oh well, atleast its a secure income' so dont change, then the circle continues. my answer, dont! youre missus should be happy to help pay the bills for the sake of youre happiness. if you were to go for the line clearance job, that you wont enjoy, then loose youre contacts, its going to be alot harder to be able to change back. stick with what you enjoy, the only risk i would take is to better youre happiness, not lower it

cheers matty and cts, i dont pay much attention to new stuff on display, as it doesnt show you how well they last-unlike treedivers post/picture which impressed me. mine are totally shagged-stitchings comming apart, burst out where they flex when you walk, hey ho, served me well!

sorry mate, i assumed that as it was being towed behind a transit chip truck, and it being a chipper, that you would be chipping into the chip truck tad confusing, as on ebay its '. . . fantastic machine' and 'that can be operated by any numpty/idiot /brash rat' good luck with the sale, although imo it'd be an expensive cup of tea
