  1. If you chip willow and store in an open pile it will not dry it will just heat up and rot. Normally fresh chips have to be used in purpose built boilers which can handle wet wood.(very inefficient) The alternative which we use is to bundle the willow whips to dry for 3 months in our solar kiln this reduces moisture content down from 55% to below 20% at which point we can chip as dry biomass.
  2. I have just put up another solar kiln with capacity of 120 cubic mtrs so if anyone is struggling to dry in lancashire I could assist.
  3. Better still build your own power station. 250kw biomass plant produces about 250K of electric a year.
  4. We use a 3 point link grader as a snow plough on our mb trac. Better grip pulling on snow then pushing on ice.
  5. Have a look at my posting on the reverse drive tractors thread. The WF Trac is the modern version of the MB Trac and the pdf spec sheet on the link gives you flow rates and pressure.
  6. If you have loads of money 6 x 6Werner Forst- und Industrietechnik
  7. Not quite. The land between high and low water marks is owned by the crown estate and therefore you are stealing from the queen with whatever penalties that entails.
  8. I would also insist on payment up front having just been done for 9 days hire without payment. Fortunately I always cost in legal collection because for £60 it stops you having sleepless nights.
  9. Problem we have in this country is historic rights of collecting wood off common land known as estover. Given that their is 550.000 hectares of common land in UK it is very difficult to accuse somebody of stealing if you first have to find out whether the land is common land and then whether the person collecting the wood is a "commoner" and is entitled to collect the wood. Until this loophole is closed you cannot treat all removal of timber without permission as theft and once you start changing commons rights do you also apply it to sheep and cattle grazing.
  10. Used to use a 20hp Jinma on my Palax combi until it died after 12 years. Replaced with 47hp MF 550.
  11. Come to our farm. Very safe as nobody can find us.PM me if you want address.
  12. Its a 2 bladed turbine which are normally quieter than 3 blade calculator below. WES - WES30 Home As for generating this model has a low cut in wind speed and high cut out wind speed so should generate for longer.
  13. We have a 250kw turbine going through planning at the moment.
  14. RDPE money is still available but is now being switched to DEFRA control so farmers weekly are advising to get projects ready for DEFRA announcements expected later this year Looks like max grant will be 25K with max 40% of project cost.
  15. If you have a small quantity to do a windbreak screen attached to the top of 2 IBC containers is useful. Just flip the screen over when the sawdust is dry and reload with fresh sawdust. Works best in a polytunnel. For larger quantities a conveyor belt of windbreak the length of the polytunnel works well. Starting handle on end roller to allow easy load and unload. If you want to dry quicker than natural then install a dehumidifier (Used to use one for drying herbs)
  16. Know the feeling. Hired mine out in Jan and accidentally bent the bed. £750 for a new bed and still the guy has not paid for the hire. Certainly destroyed my faith in people will be cash up front in future. I only hire my machine out with operator and then only 25 mile radius of Bolton.
  17. If your cannot find any nearer always welcome at the farm in Edgworth PM me for directions.
  18. If your anywhere near Bolton I could let you have a couple of barrels with lids.
  19. I always quote double scrap value price when it comes to any steam engine plant and machinery or any Ferguson tools and implements. Does not always work and can take a very long time persuading people to part with historic pieces.
  20. What do you mean by processed??. G30 woodchip or round wood. Do you have brash available??. What sort of price are you looking to sell at and how many tonnes per annum could you supply. PM me if you dont want to say on the forum.
  21. Easy if you invest in the right tools for the job. Suggest going to a professional grower in the first place to see how it is done commercially. Even simple things like bark protection can make a big difference.
  22. Really like that as a thinning tool. Bet its not cheap anybody have an idea on price.
  23. If the house is LISTED which it sounds as though it is than anything within the curterlidge of the property is also listed and will need permission from the local council conservation officer.
  24. The Guardian got a leaked document regarding teachers pensions at the start of June which stated that the deal would be based on Hutton but he did not go far enough. The leaked document was reported in the Guardian on 14th June and the unions have produced figures based on that document. If you PM me your email address I can send you the figures.
  25. Definitely a LISTED tree and do we have permission to chop it down?????
