  1. Not had much use with cranes, but could a crane pick that up from 45m away, or even half of that weight?
  2. That's what I was thinking:thumbup: Had a trunk picked up a couple of weeks ago that was arond 3.5t, and definately less than half the size.
  3. Had a look at a live Oak to fell the other day. The main trunk is around 4ft in diameter and is like that from the ground upto around 20ft. It is a monster. Thinking about using a crane, but not sure if it will reach or be able to pick this up, so how heavy would a piece of timber like that be?
  4. I have a couple of Robinias to fell in Dartford this week, could do with somewehere to off load the timber, or if someone can come and pick it up - funds available:thumbup1: Al.
  5. Got a job to do in Dartford, and could do with an extra pair of hands on the ground for one or two days. We are there Tues/Weds and Thurs this week. Bit short notice I know but if interested call me on 07841 143536. Cheers....Al.
  6. I was just reading the thread 'Cheek of it' and it disappeared:confused1: I had just got to the end of the first page, and it looked like it was about to get interesting:biggrin:
  7. Is there no one in the Redhill area who takes wood for logging or milling? I'm not suggesting that it gets picked up for free, happy to pay as it will save me time:thumbup1:
  8. I have a 60ft x 3ft dbh oak to fell on Monday next week. Access for a mog and timber grab across recreation ground. Call me if interested on 07841 143536. Al
  9. This is one we did on friday. Not huge but pretty close to the greenhouse, and seeing as it was Friday afternoon, the pub was calling... The rope was on it to pull it past a branch growing in front of it from the tree on the left. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyfYnJhnf-8]YouTube - Beech tree fell[/ame]
  10. Like this one??
  11. Apart from the blue one I saw in our local petrol garage a couple of weeks ago:confused1: (c/w/chip body and woodchips in the back.)
  12. Ouch! Did the mirror survive?
  13. No fungii seen at all anywhere. The neighbours trees corkscrew willows look the same, so wondering if they did not like the cold winter. It also has been very water logged around the tree up until now, but they are willows! Just been up the tree to have a closer look and check for Watermark disease, but thankfully no staining evidence in the cut wood (phew) Did also notice that on the branches that are dying back there are some new buds emerging from the live wood, that are not visible from the ground, so there maybe hope yet. Will keep an eye on it over the next 3-4 weeks. Al.
  14. Hi Dave, It just doesn't seem to have put put many new leaves out this year, and lots of the branches seem to have died back. Would be a shame to lose it as it is around 40 ft high and never been pruned, although may have to do some reduction work if it is dying back. Piccies below, but difficult against a bright back ground:
  15. I have sent an email to Derek Patch at the Tree Advise Trust as well to see if he has any comments.
  16. I have a large corkscrew willow in my garden that is not looking healthy at all. Hardly any new leaves have emerged this year. There is one in each neighbours garden eitherside of me, and they look the same. Just had an email from a client in North London whose Corkscrew Willow I prune every 3 years, and he is saying the same, that it looks half dead. Is there something affecting them? Al.
  17. Thanks for the info. What size are your pirelli's?
  18. I see you have wolf or HD rims. What tyres are you running on them? Cheers....Al
  19. It was about 30 years ago I was there, so was still a village:thumbup: My sister lived in West Buckland, so know Wellington fairly well:thumbup1: Lovely part of the world.
  20. I feel a bit happier now:biggrin: Where about in Somerset are you? My Mum lives in Ash Priors and I spent from 9 until 18 around Bishops Lydeard area. Al.
  21. Hi Steve If you right click on your 'c' drive and choose properties, you should get a box open up - choose 'tools' and see if the defrag is there. That's for windows XP, not sure about vista..
  22. I am with o2 and seems to be getting slower and slower
  23. Congtratulations Jonesie - hope Mother and baby are doing ok. Is Francesca your first?
  24. I saw this happen 20 years ago when I was working in Ealing with Gifford Tree Service..... damn near pulled the climber out of the tree, and buckled out the sides of the old Dosko chipper, there was so much rope inside. Climber was not very happy either!
