  1. This link has the lady's name as Kim Findlay, scroll down to find it: BBC - BBC Two Programmes - Gardeners' World, 2010/2011, The Science of Gardening This link has her contact details! Kim Findlay, Cell & Developmental Biology Google's great isn't it?? Good luck.
  2. I would say this is 99% certain an airlock. If everything was working before the heater matrix was repaired, then it should do now. I would drain the system (catch the coolant in something so you can re-use it if it is new), then when refilling ensure the heater temp control is set to hot, if the filling point is at the front nearside or offisde then jack up that side as high as possible and start refilling, giving the hoses a good squeeze as you go. Run the engine up to temp and check the level again, and fingers crossed all will be ok. I would defo do this before paying out for a water pump. Al.
  3. You didn't miss much..... .....just some baldy bloke and a bird :laugh1:
  4. that's a good one, you should be on a stage mate, might make a better comedian than a tree surgeon:001_tongue:
  5. And the chipper goes where? My 7.5t will take nearly 15 cu.m!
  6. Had some clarification today from HMRC about what vat rate to use and when. Any invoice issued after 4th Jan 2011 for work completed has to be at 20% My question was for the scenario where a job/quote has been accepted now, but the work can't be completed until the new year, either because I'm booked up or a TPO application has to be made. To get round this the customer has to be invoiced before 4th Jan 2011. So either December is going to be a real bumper month or I'm going to be typing a lot of invoices on 3rd Jan.
  7. Isn't there a place near Padworth/Aldermaston that take woodchip, and also ho around picking it up?
  8. Can't even get the spelling of text speak right, it should be gr8 not g8t:lol:
  9. Sorry to hear of your loss Littletree. The tide recedes but leaves behind Bright seashells in the sand, The sun goes down but gentle warmth Still lingers on the land. The music stops, and yet, it echoes on In sweet refrains For every joy that passes Something beautiful remains.
  10. What, for your braces going ping:lol:
  11. I am in need of a self employed groundsman for a second team for around 3 weeks. I am based in the Woking area. If interested pm me. Al.
  12. When picking up the branches before you tighten your grip, move your hand forwards slightly towards the branch tip and then grip. This action bends the spikey leaves forwards and then it does not hurt - even with bare hands! Only showed my son this yesterday, where there was a small monkey puzzle in the garden.
  13. Is that the royal 'We' Stu??:001_tt2:
  14. Me and one other and then a subby now and then when it's busy. Just recently taken on a third person as getting too busy at the moment.
  15. Because it is based on company turnover. My turnover last year was around £130,000. Hypothetically, to stay under the £70,000 threshold, £60,000 of that would have to be undeclared, and the only way to do that is to be paid in cash and put it under your mattress.
  16. What I was saying was to stay under the threshold, a lot of cash would have to be taken - not that I did - that's why I'm vat registered.
  17. Twas only a pine tree:001_rolleyes:
  18. I would be interested to know how you guys remain unregistered (unless you are one man free lancers) The threshold is currently £70,000 turnover per year which equates to £300 a day (based on a 260 working day year) If you are not charging more than £300 a day for a two man team, how do you make any money?:confused1: Obviously a certain cash element comes in to play:sneaky2:, but not £20,000 + each year.
  19. Here is my 130 tipper - just had a new body built on the back - can get a few chips in there
  20. I am all sorted now. Thanks to those that offered. I will keep your names and numbers for next time. See you Tuesday Jane:thumbup:
  21. I'm with you on that one Dean. I would prefer a gob cut on the top and let it fold up nice and slow (and controlled:thumbup1:) Anyway, at our age, well your age:001_tongue: you need time to get out the way lol
