  1. I saw on a couple of supplier websites that they have a password protected area where the chainsaws etc are. If you are not a previous customer, you have to register yourself with them and prove you are legit, and then they will mail them out, this one such supplier: Stihl Online Sales Policy - HobUK
  2. With regards to the mail order situation as I understand it, if you can prove you are competent (NPTC cert) or a professional/commercial company, or a previous customer then it should not be a problem. I have used George Carr & Sons in Bristol for chainsaws, always get a good deal from them.
  3. Buy my Rayco RG50, then you can hire it out to others - win win situation!!
  4. I have 10 mill for both EL and PL costs £2700 for the year. I am with Trust Insurance, anyone else use them?
  5. Hi

If you want to discuss the Rayco further give me a call on 07841 143536.

    Rgds, Al

  6. Did some quick sums and it works out to an average of just under 25 posts a day!!
  7. If it is on the inside, I would just use 6 or 9mm exterior ply. GRP is heay stuff and expensive as well. Rgds....Al.
  8. On Weds this week we had a job to do in Highgate (N. London), woke up Weds morning and everything covered in 2 inches of snow again:( Thought North London might have escaped the snow this time, so phoned the customer up at 6.50 and they said no snow, so off we went. I had a couple of quotes to do as well so we took the 7.5t Iveco, 150 TW chipper and my Navara. All the way in (from Woking) it was snowing, so beginning to think the customer only looked at his bedroom floor, and not outside:( We were going up Bishops Avenue which is on a bit of a hill, and some pratt coming down the hill did not give way to my lorry going up the hill, so we had to stop. Lorry wouldnot move again just spinning away, and the arse end sliding towards the parked cars! Backed the Navara up and tied a tow rope to the lorry, put the Navara in low range, and it proceeded to pull the 7.5t Iveco and the chipper upthe hill!! I was impressed!! :)
  9. Was this you then? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_I2tmS4x_5s]YouTube - SnowCar[/ame]
  10. Have a look here, it may help: http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/10977-ms200t-please-help.html Al.
  11. Hi Rupe, What grinder did you use for that stump? Putting my Rayco RG50 up for sale at the weekend, as needs must unfortunately:thumbdown:, could be a nice addition to your kit though:thumbup: Al.
  12. Thanks for your reply mate. I will be selling a Rayco RG50 stump grinder, but need to take some pics first. Will do the add at the weekend. Cheers....Al.
  13. Is it better to put equipment for sale in the 'trading place' or classified section of this forum? And is Earborist any good? Advice welcome, Al.
  14. Hi Colin,

    Yep, that'll be me!

Blimey Fred & Stan, that's taking me back. I shoudnt think Stan is alive any more, not sure about Fred though - would you know?

Just to add to the coincidence I am at my Mums house this weekend in Ash Priors. A new house is being built next door in the garden of Park Gate House. I was looking up the Taunton Deane planning website to see if the Ash tree was TPO'd, and who did the last tree application - Arboricare - how spooky is that!!

    What is David upto?

Thanks for getting in touch, partly the reason I use my real name on the forum, to see if any one knows me on here.

    Al.

  15. That's only the second time I have been able to do that in 25 years of climbing, so that would make me 56 next time it happens - hopefully I won't be climbing by then!
  16. Or like this  [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jejjzKEdSv0]YouTube - Very Funny Accident[/ame]
  17. It was in St Johns Wood area of London.
  18. No, it is a Danequip grinder.
  19. Nothing a score didn't sort out
  20. When the building site put the hoarding up they 'borrowed' some of the side access of my client, so you could hardly walk down it let alone drag branches out. The whole job only took an hour and half, and had allowed nearly a day as there is a ruddy great fish pond under the tree :0
  21. The building site next door had a handy crane for this one:001_smile:
  22. I tried one of those scuba undersuits once when it was really cold, and then it got windy as well, this was the result:
  23. Thanks for that mate. Will give them a call tomorrow. Looking at their website not to sure they will take conifer chip/logs?
  24. Hi All, Been getting a bit of work around the Reading / Tilehurst area, and was wondering if anyone has or knows of a chip/wood tip in the area as it is a 45 mile round trip back to the yard where I normally unload as I found out today:sad: Rgds.....Al
