  3. I can swim but not well. But we did teach our son and daughter to swim at about your sons age and they are now very good swimmers. But i am like you i was always outside with mates or helping dad this made me what i am hard working but i don't mix well with a crowd:001_smile:

  5. It was nice working with you for the day Andy:lol: Only kidding. I have a ND arb lad from otley work with me and he is shaping up nicely works hard. Next week we are going to do some tree planting which he is really excited about as he has not done this before and he wants to learn the whole package not just cutting them down.
  6. Go on to the FC england site and click on grants. But you can also search for things like rides and glades there are grants for these. The living woods magazine is a great read from living to working in woods, what to eat and how to use wood:001_smile:
  7. Oops forgot oliver rackams books i have them all but i find them very hard going and read them a bit at a time i find it easy to read something like Mike abbots living woods tells you all the tools you need how to use them. what to do with your woods it is the whole package:001_smile:
  8. Hi for grants you want FC or Defra. Also there are small grants from local councils or the tree council. As for books any Fc books or bulletins all of the tree council books are good. Ben laws books are good for management. A good magazine to get is living woods. And you will get a lot out of joining the small woods association i hope this helps:001_smile:

  11. I just got a new husky helmet and that was not cheap. Does anyone know if Daniel at Old newton sells boxes of earplugs.
  12. I do wear ear plugs if using saws for long periods but i forgot today. It is still ringing i will have some in tomorrow:001_smile:
  13. I had wax in my ears a few years ago and the doc said if you get it again use olive oil.
  14. Been chainsawing all day today. I am now sitting in my chair and all i can hear is a ringing in my ears never had it before but it is loud and constant. I think this must be the end i need an office job:001_smile:

  21. I am in the AA. Most of the time it is ok i gain a lot of information from mag and journal. The only negative is the conference which i woul;d love to go to is about £500 plus somewhere to stay and meals how can a mere woodman afford that?
