  1. My boss asked me to go on the pole saw course i said no i did not need to but as i just said on last post i don't pay so i should of took it would look good on my CV:thumbup:
  2. Is that how you spell orgasam it is so long since i had one i can't remember how to spell it:biggrin: PS I hope you mods leave my thread alone:lol:
  3. I think it was kevin (Arbocop) or maybe the lady in the office that said most firms require us to take refresher courses, so you might as well take a new course this counts as a refresher on chainsaws and you are adding to your tickets. If you are like me you may not need them but i may loose my job and then they all come in very handy on the CV. Whats a CV i am only a country bumpkin:001_smile:
  4. I know this is taking the liberty but has anyone got the mobile phone number of Andrew Cowan. If you do do not post it here but if you could PM me. Andrew if you come on today or the weekend could i have your mobile i want to talk to you about some trees very old ones:drool: When i saw these trees i nearly had an orgasam.
  5. Nothing here that i know of phone was on all night nothing. On my way to ipswich i did notice a tree down across a bridleway.

  8. Yew man are cool:thumbup:
  9. Not looking very good guys and girls. I thought every village and town would have one or two at least. We want lots of photos of these old Elms. The Elms i have been cutting down in a shelter belt are as said suckers from old Elms the stumps are still there, the suckers are about 20 years old but dead and new little suckers are coming up. This is like magic really all these suckers coming up from the original trees root system all little clones of the parent:thumbup:
  10. Yes you can put the post code or address i don't plan on recording them this is just an Arbtalk search. I just got thinking today how many big Elms are left in this country and will they survive or become extinct. I was at an arboretum earlier in the year and one of the resistant Elms had now got DED.
  11. Nice Steve i see you had a goody bag. Looks a good show can't beat real trees outside for demos.
  12. As a guide when you hug the tree you will not be able to join your hands. You can give it a kiss if you want to
  13. As i have been cutting down hundreds of dead Elms i started to think how many large Elms have survived Dutch Elm disease. If you know of any large Elms post a picture DBH or girth. Is it a pollard or maiden. It must be living it will be interesting to know how many Elms have lived through DED and are still growing well. Happy Elm hunting:001_smile:
  14. Tom you nearly ran over your saw in the video:biggrin:
  15. Nice one Bart. Is that with a carving bar? Do you use a grinder or chisles?
  16. You might be right there Sean. They yellow to rusty brown if they are they will be slimy or greasy on the cap hmm i will wait till you have had another look:001_smile:
  17. There is nothing wrong with that site chestnut i like the simple easy to read ones the best:thumbup: Ian if you want some finance for your web site try the princes trust they are trying to get rural people and crafts starting up:thumbup1:
  18. I think Sean you may have found pholiota tuberculosa the book says darker top to squarrosa. Habitat is decayed wood which is right with what you have. It is defo a pholiota of some sort i would say:biggrin:
  19. Interesting you say about burning on the bed. I have got two woodburners and they both have ash pans with a grate i want to take them out but it is how to hold the logs in. But if i take them out i can get a lot more wood in:thumbup:
  20. You are both right. But can i buy something that goes in front to hold the logs in. Also it is a double doors version so you need to lock onto something with the handle. I can't find anything on the net:001_smile:
  21. New tennants on the estate have got a hunter herald 6 double sided stove but you cannot get any logs in it as the grate is to high and the baffle plate is to low there is only about 4 inches. Can you get rid of the ash pan and grate and buy something to hold the logs in?
  22. I like that Ian. I like the way it is humped in the middle with the tea light in:thumbup:
  23. I was putting barbed wire in a paddock started to stain it up and it went twang and flew over my head. When i looked the roll was all bits and hed been joined oh dear i don't do barbed wire now:lol:
  24. Thats a nice spot to work there Dean all those rolling hills and cows. We are flat as a pancake here:lol: Nice job i thinks:thumbup:
  25. I don't want to run down the poor yuppies but i got called out to some last week to show them how to light the wood burner as they could not. A week later and they still can't get it going. I am taking them some firewood this week it will go then:thumbup:
