  1. 😁he was a fairly new to rigging at that point but now one of my best staff, amazing how quickly rope burn teaches them 😉 No it was sycamore, not nearly as heavy as beech but some of them were quite big chunks, that 390xp has a 28" bar on for scale. Thanks for the comments and I'm trying to work through quite a lot of footage to make a montage type video of all we do, eventually!
  2. Don't see nothing astray why you can't see it unless your currently in Germany where copyright says no!?
  3. I'll check settings when I get home.
  4. Should be, I'll check settings when I get home for you.
  5. Anyone tried the kelfry range, certainly not kesla built quality but looked ok for estate work or thinnings. Just had a look at 1 of the front loader grabs for shifting timber in the yard today, cheep and should do job fine.
  6. It's not always big enough to do the whole tree but makes low long laterals easy and chogging down the bigger timber almost enjoyable plus has the added bonus of being able to tow the trailer for extra chip removal or fetching the grinder.
  7. Yes I've done similar falling from a horse and was noticeable for quite a while, decent set of high tight boots that offer plenty of support and stop it twisting again will help.
  8. Looks painful but at least not broken, take it easy and you'll be back at it soon.
  9. Some footage from a while back I found on a old memory card while having a sort out yesterday so thought I might as well put it together, hope you enjoy.
  10. Better re write your terms and conditions download on the website then Paul as I don't think it is included.
  11. I like your thinking mark, saying that if I gave my lads a choice of looking after my two hooligans or taking a day off all I'd see is the car tail lights disappearing out the yard. When I started having more permanent staff I decided to start doing logs again for just such days when the weather or client cancels a job so at least I can set lads on and cover wages and overheads and no 1 is out of pocket to much. All this winter I've been saying that next time we are snowed off we'll have a set too and build the office/bait cabin in the barn to have somewhere easier to get warm for doing kit checks and drying gear but guess what never had that day yet....
  12. This is interesting, should I now quote this as the reason I can't do the job they have had the quote for for 2months before excepting strate away. Instead of saying, certainly I can still do it for the quoted price but as we have a lot on at the moment it'll be about 2 weeks till I can do your job, to which they sometimes reply ow we might try someone else to do it sooner..... I'll say Thank-you for excepting my quote, by law we will not be able to carry out your job for a minimum 14 days incase you change your mind to which they say.............. Don't think most of the companies offering the sort of services the OP talked about and this cooling of period will still reside within the same County to carry out the work if they actually stuck by it.
  13. Top man for going for it, if you can still mix it up with helping out other firms either as you are now or as a whole crew in the future it can really help with cash flow, I have no doubt that you'll make it with the commitment to the job your videos put across Best thing I ever did was make the transition to being my own boss, not easy by any means but well worth it! Keep the videos coming and keep us posted how the business venture progresses 👍
  14. Realy to make it anywhere near compliant you will need some kind of micro switch fitted to either kill or prevent the engine from starting when the chute is folded down to prevent contact with spinning parts as my old quadchip had.
  15. I'll third that, crane looks good but found the 1 I used for a while very underpowered especially on the slew rams and struggled with anything bigger than chipwood. Always having problems with the electric controls for the grab and extension. Should add the palms I have had a few go's with was excellent and seemed to perform above its specs.
  16. If your employed the company should provide all the equipment necessary to carry out the work you have been employed to do including tools, ppe and fuel unless you have a pre agreed deal where you provide it but are paid a set allowance for each time it's used but this is rare these days as is open to conflict from both sides. As for legislation Im not sure what exactly would cover if it's just tools your asking about.
  17. Nice looking job John, bet the crane saved some serious amount of time instead of rigging down. Like the fastrac set up, almost looks like the cab was custom made for the crane to sit in dip
  18. Talked about lots Thought about lots Rarely done by the majority 😜
  19. Found this ugly looking toad face on a sycamore yesterday.
  20. Both zigzag and zillion replaced today so back to shiny happy climbing on Monday, cheers gustharts 👍
  21. As long as they are set up well and kept sharp they will take greenery as well as any other chipper, the only thing I found it didn't get on well with was long stringy willow that could ball up behind the rolers and require a bigger bit of timber to push it in. I've used them as both hand feed on a mog and crane feed on a valtra but not set up as fancy as the one above, very nice!
  22. You the dealer for them now Dean? Definitely something on the wish list, nice triple blade with inbuilt pump nd stress controle would sit nicely on my massy nd eat all the unwanted conifer fed in easily by the 360 and grab, bliss!
  23. Sold my quadchip with just over 400hrs nd was perfect apart from a few paint chips, replaced barring at 350hrs as got a bit of play so got done before they become a problem. Difference can be all down to maintance, hopefully a owner operator will care more than a fleet machine, also remember some chippers do that many hrs chipping and others do high hrs running and only a few actually chipping.
  24. Might be worth looking at the 10" farmi chipper as it's a 45degree feed which is good on highways as feeds more from the side and requires less hp to drive, also not a bad price 👍
  25. Yes it will improve chipping capacity but getting it set up as close to the job or as conveniently is much harder to do especially in more domestic locations. If your mostly chipping onto the ground or working on open ground then a 12"pto chipper will demolish anything even on 120hp( more = faster) but a well set up tow behind like a bandit 990 will definitely hold its own and is much easier to set up on a driveway behind the chip truck.
