Those disks definitely look worth trying as the genuine disks from greenteck are more expensive and I've had one shatter. Just need to work out what size for 900's

Hoping to do the same soon with our grafter to increase legal payload a bit, did think about going even lighter than planking and have a frame with checker sheet or something similar as a skin. -

Smoking on fueling I don't know about but saw a bloke set himself on fire after spilling fuel when filling up a cut off saw and cutting some mettle, think he needed skin grafts on his legs after that. Drugs testing, we have had 2 in last 4 years on site for 2 separate big clients, one it's just the offender who is off site the other and larger of the two has a 3 month time out for whole company should a member of staff test positive for drink or drugs which could be very costly indeed so to say I'm carful about who go's on this clients sites is a understatement.

Be very similar spec to the bronto we use from time to time, possibly a bit too big and heavy to get much use of its 4x4 spec unless a dry field or muddy track.

I had a naighbour complain to the council about my landy and trailer being parked on my driveway when I 1st started, one of the planning officers came out and after a bit of a discussion decided as he went home in a council owned vehicle and did computer work at home but surely wasn't running the council planning department from home there was no difference and couldn't exactly do anything about it. Like others said crack on till told otherwise then crack on again till told something is going to be enforced, bigger things to worry about!

Run one happily for a few years now, some parts are becoming a pain to find but are very easy to work on for the most part.

A friend has the bindenburger version which is quite a beast but only got a 16 way knife and using it for big rings definitely is efficient with a smaller splitter sat next to it picking up any slightly too bigger logs. Getting stuff stuck isn't too bad because you can get at the knife back with a decent sledge hammer and knock anything back into the chamber quit easy, if you were doing billets I think it would be a bit bigger problem. One tip is do not stand in front of it as logs can get fired out at a rediculous speed when the pressure builds up!

Silky saw reductions, your best, worst and (value for money) ones

We very rarely get reductions of any note to do round here as two of our local la's don't really agree with them, which is a pity as it would preserve a lot of trees which later end up being removed. Nice to see some skilled pruning being put on show on this thred [emoji106] -
Dealing with conifer and stringy material or rather not is why I've just traded in my farmi for a schliesing 550 which still produces quite a nice chip and can be grab fed as the hopper is massive and open at the top. 170hp will happily run a 400 series heizohack which will happily do both jobs your asking from it and are a very simple machine compared to the Dutch dragon chippers and a lot cheaper to run. If your doing a lot of brash it would be worth looking at changing your grab to one without the bottom plates in as you'll pick up less contamination from the ground and not jam the grab anymore with bits getting stuck as you try and open it. Wilsons will be offering a quick change plate soon so you'll be able to swap grabs in a few minutes to suit what your doing.

Had a sycamore do that to me and vertually destroy my 390xp in the process, looked fine on the outside and half way through the gob just started collapsing like in a cartoon, vary scary!

That's some serious financial commitment with those machines, guessing prices start at half a million and fairly restricted to hard ground. The largest machine in the video is very impressive though. What hp did they have? Not being critical but it looks a bit of a birds nest to pull apart and chip in the 1st picture, it's often the case with lads who haven’t worked with a crane fed machine before for them to cut stuff up as though for a smaller machine and not leaving things attached together but crippled at big forks. Conifer is horrible in small bits if it's curvy wheras if the side limbs were still on the stem the grab or rolers could crush them in easily. Good presentation of material is the key to getting the best out of these machines.

If you have top lift on a heizo it's not to bad as you can gather up a bundle of smaller stuff and drop it on the bottom conveyer, close your grab and crush it down and let it pull it in to the open rotor then drop top roller to pull it all in or vary small stuff with larger to pull it through, really depends on your skill and dexterity with the crane as to how effective you can be with the machine. Ugly thorn not a problem Conifer go's the same way really.

Unfortunately no front pto on this tractor, it would be just to get it to site if I needed a trailer as well, carry the winch on the front most of the time but at less than 500kg isn't even noticed

The chipper is about 2t and apparently valtra is rated at being able to carry 3.5t on front , did wounder about being able to carry it to site on front and tow either bulk trailer or forwarder behind, junctions could be a bit interesting ? Might have a word with dealer to see if that rating is only when carrying more direct on the rear arms.

Do you think this looks a little wrong [emoji848] Quickly done video of our quick swap system on the botex for swapping grabs, the shear takes a little longer as have swap pipe fittings as well.

That is nice, wish I had the money available as that would do me nicely, bet in 6 - 8 months when I hopefully have some funds again these spec machines will be like rocking horse poop again.
