  1. Bit of oak extraction today for a friend who's smaller trailer just didn't have the grunt for some of these big long bits.
  2. I know, it's been left to the nettles for a bigger machine but it was rediculous putting 150hp through a 6" machine. It would make a brilliant front mount for a smaller mog as can be close coupled and take the reversing box off and spins the correct way as standard.
  3. Here you go, this is what they look like in the disk, even got twin lined spout with a rubber insert to help quieten down the discharge.
  4. Yes two pairs of blades, I'll take a picture of the disk tonight for you. Bit of a pain to set up as takes longer than regular blades, not done it enough yet to work out if a easier way exists that I'm missing. Probably wouldn't have been my 1st choice but when such a clean second hand machine came up within budget I thought why not. Chip is definitely better than any normal disk I've used apart from my old farmi.
  5. Our one has the whisper blades in which produce a lovely chip and do seem to be kind to the tractor on bigger timber but hell they are expensive!
  6. Wish we had a short spout like that on ours for chipping into vans although wouldn't take long to fill them, brilliant chippers. Has yours got straight or whisper blades in it?
  7. Ball lightening during a storm was a fairly strange phenomenon to witness And I'm fairly certain I once witnessed a teenager without a phone in there hand but can't prove it unfortunately.
  8. This would be an interesting one to investigate further as it's growing 25ft up an oak in a old wound and also some fruiting bodies on the opposite side of the stem. Luckily it's in a woodland so if the whole top brakes off it's not too higher risk.
  9. I'd have thought so, it's amazing how quickly they dry once split with decent air flow around them and especially the species you have, if it was oak I'd probably think not.
  10. I remember seeing that mog in the forestry mags years ago as was quite a new concept at the time. This one looks interesting but I bet its front accele is under a bit of stress. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F263720650764
  11. Yes I do but my mewp is down as plg so subject to mot tax and white diesel so basically a landrover that happens to carry a mewp, if I had it register as plant or tower crane it wouldn't be allowed apparently
  12. Yes but damaged crank as well
  13. when the Spiggat bairing in gear box went and chewed up the crank Shaft so engine needs taking apart to fix so decided to have it reconditioned while it's in bits
  14. Rather poorly cherrypicker, ended up with engine and gearbox going off to be reconditioned all because of a 16quid spiggat bairing failing [emoji24]
  15. Not today but last weekend made this little addition for the botex Idea is grinder can travel up against headboard and with clamshell fitted tidy up of big stumps will take hardly any time.
  16. Getting to the yard early and looking out over the fields behind and just sitting watching for 10 min before anyone else arrives Hugs from my children when I get back from a hard day. Cooking a decent meal and everyone enjoying it.
  17. In the case of that map I'm in the left hand square but apart from a new planting that had to be pulled and destroyed as could have been infected yet unconfirmed I didn't know of any and definitely not in mature stock although we have a lot of very poorly looking ash covered in felted polipore loocaly.
  18. Driving up the dales yesterday evening and looking at some of the wide squat crowns along the roadside just thinking that'll be a pain and the next and the next.... Big wagon with a grapple saw needed!
  19. No confirmed up top of North Yorkshire but over 70% of our roadside tree stock are big mature ash, if they all suffer it'll be a nightmare dealing with them or getting Landowners to safely do the work to prevent failure onto the roads. We could end up very busy but the countryside will be a very different place without them all.
  20. Might just be me but can't spot the link, any chance of a direct link please
  21. Don't think I know a single harvester driver who hasn't spent time on forwarders and 360s first, definitely not a machine you can just jump on and have a go with and most owners cannot afford to pay for you to learn to be efficient with crane on such a high value machine where the rates are so tight.
  22. Bat flatery or no wefi. Sure you'll have some gooduns for us who couldn't make it up soon.
  23. Was starting to worry you'd forgotten how to post pictures, looks like a nice day for it.
  24. Drat that's 350miles nd 4 hrs from me which puts it into being not terribly practical.
