I'm the same thinking that as the daily overheads are still there if I'm working or on holiday but now I always take two weeks off under orders from swmbo as it takes 4 days for me to stop being a wound up soab and then it's just odd days for long weekends but even when I'm off I'm still sort-of working with emails or phonecalls and if the lads are working checking in everything is OK. Think we need away from work time and just have to build that cost into the days we do.

Some cone artwork in a bavarian style summerhouse, must have taken some considerable hrs to do this lot! 1st picture is the walls 8pannals all different 2nd is the ceiling.

Ha haa, that just shows how bludy heavy that chipper is if it needs that lot on a valtra to peg it down.

Not quite the rite colour of orange but not far off, damage site easier to reverse than the quadchip that's for sure! Good set up going on now! That's a heck of a nose block on the valtra to balance out on that chipper!

Try contacting local racecourse jump builders as they will often pay for a reliable source of foliage for the steple chase jumps. Nothing wrong with the timber as biomass but the bark can produce a lot of fluff in a drum chipper. -
My st8 is awesome mate so on tracks it'll be a really useful machine and that moddle carlton is just mentle what you can get done in a day.

I had a tree passed against the recommendation of a tree officer under similar conditions and the fact it was affecting several neighboring property's and according to 2 estate agents discouraging the sale of the property in the final appeal we actually had a agreement of sale from a buyer as long as the tree was removed which the tree officer wasn't interested in rightly so but the planning team had to take into consideration as so permissions the removal which I never thought would be. Shame, beautiful tree and it'll be a complete git to remove in a few weeks.

Glad your back with us bud, twas a few worried pm's darting about the place. Your ladies wishes must be obeyed and I think we should all do well to respect that for you and sounds good she's taking care of your health. Hope to catch up soon.

Once very carefully dismantled a tree with a line in only to have it snap under its own weigh once no longer held up by my tree where it had been rubbing on another tree. Snapped a few on purpose with dangerous trees as was far safer and quicker to drop it into the bt line than a power line or onto a main road. Think the best 1 still has to be where I took down a big conifer where the line had been absorbed by a branch so I simply cut either side and left a 8"long 3"across log in mid air, 2years on and I still spot it when I go past 😀

Beautiful place to visit and I often find it better when persisting it down as quieter and more atmospheric. Got a good picture of me at about 15 sat on that big spruce limb drinking a brew, would love to know how long it's stood there!

Love my battery husky for working over footpaths from the mewp as communication with the banksman is so easy even as your cutting. Couldn't cope without my 540 as well but the stealth saw suitably has its place. I quite fancy getting the back handled version for next to the chipper for that odd branch that needs cutting before going in as it's just a push of a button and cut rather than cold starting a normal saw for a 1 second cut.

The drop off is so slow it go's unnoticed but the improvement is instantly recognizable belive me, have fun.

Had to replace them as 1 broke and they got done at same time as bairings replaced by local dealer so sorry I can't help with telling how much of a pig they are to do but can definitely say they improved performance dramatically. Really wish I'd been able to afford to keep it as well as getting the new machine as was such a good chipper.

Made a hell of a difference when I replaced mine at 368hrs so definitely worth the effort.

Few from jobs this week. Big horrid beech dismantle then some classic muscle to pull the stem over. Helping a friend and his little harvester with some heavily leaning larch on a local estate. And a rather large conifer in a garden felled and chipped in no time with the forst.

And let's hope with that increase in use and understanding we can get that road fuel duty wiped off it to help those who can't see beyond the purchase price to convert.
