  1. Went to remove a big dead limb on this ash thisafternoon before a big horse trials in a fortnight and luckily spotted it was non to healthy so a few Phonecalls and down it came. The split was actually opening and closing in the breeze.
  2. Simply put Edward I didn't want the tree officer who I've spent a lot if time gaining the trust and respect of to drive past and think as the agent and applying contractor I've done a crap poor standard job so felt I needed to make it clear I no longer was handling the work. If you had seen some of the trees the owner had expertly pruned himself with ladders and black and dekker reciprocating saw you'd have been concerned too. There is no way he'd have been able to carry out the work to the standard required. So put simply I was covering my own arse and reputation!
  3. Two more saws sugied curtsy of chainsawbars.com :-D Cheers Rob
  4. That's not as bad as I thought it could have been running big saws for that amount of cutting but at least you don't have a fume hangover tonight!
  5. That's a whole lot of aspen being burnt! Good saw for it mind :-)
  6. That's cool, made up a.saw holder similar to the very expensive things you can get out of a few off cuts of stock board, will get a pick for you later.
  7. I'm the same as hodge with the fee for gaining permission but then not doing the work and this also includes if the client changes there mind and not proceed with the work at all. Only had to do this once as client decided to do the work themselves, once they payed me I accidentally told the tree officer who payed them a visit and explain a few things to them, trees never got done.
  8. Easier to do what we do with the rc3001 and put a sling around the trunk and hang the block from that while fitting the strap.
  9. You've seen my old 130 then, if there ain't no oil under it there ain't anymore oil in it!
  10. Easy done, works on chain oil and the ever present leak from a landrover so don't see why it won't work on hydraulic oil.
  11. Persil biological washing powder, sprinkle it on ad a drop of water to make a paste, brush vigorously and wash of, repeat again and that normally gets it.
  12. Nice and simple that hodge, few tweaks and thats what I need too, will get Mrs onto it now she's almost a lady of leisure as both kids go to school today.
  13. Vodka and hold it in your mouth over the tooth for about 5min, numbs it up nicely and if it doesn't drink the rest of the bottle and you'll no longer care and the bad head in the morning will give you something else to think about. Nowt worse than toothache, over half my back left teeth are held together with mettle from being kicked by a horse and still occasionally give jip which is guaranteed to make me more grumpy than normal
  14. Rock antics new place at newton aycliffe, not quite finished yet but open now after a 2 month stall. Think the main wall is 25ish m with a pritty epic overhang. Whole place is going to be really good once all the walls are up and all the other facilities in the same building are finished.
  15. Day off also as worked yesterday,. Last day of summer.holidays so off to climbing wall with hannah, her power to weight ratio is perfect for this stuff but just needs a bit more reach for some moves. Last picture shows what we are working towards, lad climbing that was impressive to watch!
  16. Love it when you have half the tree down before the client realises your on site because you need to fire up the chipper. Find it brilliant for street tree lifting as communication with groundstaff is so much easier!
  17. Must say that's not everyday but sometimes it just builds up like that and I just do em all in a 1ner particularly if local authority work comes in as often multi sites dotted around an area which is normally easy as can do it evening or weekend but can still end up confused as to which needed what. Need a better system as sat looking at my desk covered in bits of paper, 3 note books and old envelopes with phone messages scribble on them trying to make some order of it all.
  18. To late mick, traded my beloved quadchip against a shiny new forst st8.it was an option consider as would have given the opportunity to run two teams if necessary but if I need big I just go proper big and get this in for a few hrs and fill ever truck, trailer and Sandwich box I can find,
  19. The 150 is a good machine ty but a little slower than the quadchip as the way the rotor is geared gives it less rpm but really liked it when I had 1 on hire while quadchip was away. Thought about a big jensen like that when I was.looking to upgrade but decided against as it's a huge lump to be pulling around for everyday use.
  20. I'm thinking more along the lines of something I can use from 1st phone call - name, address, phone number. On site, further contact details, email address, work to do, tick boxes for what to do with arisings, stumps, timber etc, extra equipment needed to remind me to get this information while there and make it easier when back at office after looking at potentially 15 jobs in the day what I actually needed so generate the quote and send it. Also act as a reminder if we get the job that we needed an extra bit of gear or also contact a neighbour before going etc.
  21. Ooh, not good! That's going to be a git to get out unless you have a die grinder.
  22. Think any fixed device is a two man job to fit really and if your doing the sort of rigging that needs such a big device your going to have 2 + men on site.
  23. Is that a sheet to take with you when quoting to fill in detail or a job sheet to give team leader on morning explaining job they are off to do? Asking as just trying to do a quoting sheet myself to remind me to get all information I'll need later.
