  1. Few from finishing off the monster oak today, lad who was taking the timber sent the jcb and for reasons only known to him decided to put the biggest bit on the ifor which I think could have been a smidgen overloaded. :-?
  2. Not sure what's it was but lifted it with this, reversed the trailer under then slid it into the center. Luckily it was quite hollow but still I wouldn't have dared try taking that on the road.
  3. Think the lad who bought this oak off me might have been slightly overloaded. Thought he'd send a wagon not a ifor.
  4. About 15 min with brash which is half what it's capable of on bigger timber which is around 1m3 per min. It was handy that I could stack stuff up and keep bringing stuff to him with the digger which probably speeded it up as we didn't need to keep repositioning.
  5. About 60" across the stump, glad I'm not grinding it! 3 rb loades and 2 trailer loades of chip but to be fair we did chip just a little more than normal just because we could. 😀 Not entirely sure how much the hiab my mates sending tomorrow for the big timber can lift so could be an interesting day.
  6. Yes and the hole it left went 6ft up and 3 down and could see daylight from op side from a few old wounds.
  7. A few from today, all stripped out by lunch when busy daddy turned up with a bit bigger chipper to help the bobcat tidy up my mess. Pole down by 4.30 and now just the timber to shift once I've graded and leveled a bit of ground to make it a bit nicer for getting heavy timber out. Hopefully ben will post a few of the climbing if he's about.
  8. What you need is what we call a stealth saw 😉
  9. Forgot picture
  10. Rear propshaft uj let go on landy yesterday so stripped that off but didn't manage to pick a new 1 up today so instead fitted new skirts to the rg13 which I've been trying to do for months and fixed the brake which wouldn't work, turned out to be a bit of gravel wedged in the side stopping it working, simple fix sometimes 😀
  11. Big oak dropped a limb last week so started on with this thisafternoon after a little domestic dismantle, rest of tree to do tomorrow when the bigger toys come out to play. Might get a few nice bits of timber out of it but mostly fubar.
  12. Gob the lot strate away and them no longer worth protection, remember that job we did like that near Selby way when about 8 of us were set poised with saws and at 8am all hell broke loos as everything was simultaneously felled before anyone knew what was going on...
  13. It's when a gust comes and suddenly you can't reach the branch you were cutting seconds before, that's when things get a bit squeaky!
  14. Just remind them how they got started! Put them on a trile and make it plain that's what it is so no pissing about or out, simples! Also worth directing them to a few threads on here about what to do in a new job or as an apprentice. Someone better with comps than me could link then here👇
  15. Handy points about, Joes as well as I have a 16 year old girl wanting to come for some work experience. Will look up young persons risk assessment and prob give aeborisk a call to inform them and ask for any recommendations.

Always had fun at collage capturing them and releasing them later in the student union bar, sit back and watch the panic, help ones self to another beer then becomes the hero by capturing the monster with bare hands and release it outside 😁💪
  17. Chip quality inspections are common with us these days but like Steve said got to watch out for the steam on a cold day giving the game away as 1 client commented that it was amazing how quickly the green matter started to heat up and produce steam once chipped and asked if this was ever a fire risk in the back of the van.
  18. Just spotted this monster while out doing some evening pricing, it's huge!!
  19. That's a good machine, liking the 1210 next to it, rare for a 4x4, done lots of winching with a 1390 and it was a good tractor with a surprising amount of grunt for its size.
  20. Looks it, ex army contraption or cable pulling rig? Any ideas what it's rated pull is?
  21. And we all probably have the gear to make 1 too Paul
  22. She must be mint to keep your attention away from tech and arbtalk, well done sir!
  23. Is it a ally side or steel side bed on the 1 your getting? If your going ply just stand a sheet at either side and bolt through the standard sides then measure and cut a sheet as a headboard and wedge it in and repeat bolting the the standard headboard then use some mettle angle brackets to strengthen sides to front sheet. Simple but effective, paint the ply to look less like a wooden box and your away. You'll get about a year to 18months till you'll need to replace the timber but hopefully by then you'll have saved up enough to get a full Metal box made.
  24. Not a bad 1 really but who'd have thunk it to find a stone rite in middle of the tree, fair bit of filing to get back past the damage!
  25. Snotty sycamore dismantle today, forgot to take before pictures because it was peeing it down, I knew the bottom was bad but hadn't counted on how bad it was high up, like a pipe, got a little help from the Estates forwarder to shift the timber and had the stump ground out by 4.30.
