  1. About 6hr I think, about 30ltrs of fuel but luckily only found 1 stone of any size so teeth are still good.
  2. Don't know what you mean Mike, total coincidence I've hung my cap on that handy control leaver. ;-)
  3. Nice hanging branch for the boys to sort which I tackled this monster beech stump, before you say cut it down lower I tried and blunted every big saw I had within seconds! Removed about 6m3 of grindings, hard going shoveling in this heat! And had this big critter come land on the grinder.
  4. I had spotted that Jensen and a lovely gravely chipper on eBay, it's a gamble with older machines with no warranty. Cost of repairs is 1 thing but downtime is far more costly in reality especially since we get a lot of time sensitive jobs that might have taken months to book for a road closure so reliability and back up is playing a big part in what I decided to do at the moment.
  5. To be fair the forst is looking good Ian. Would love to go for a bandit 90xp but a lump more money and 2.2ton to drag round all the time. In an ideal world I'd have a big 9" machine and keep the quadchip but don't have the money for that.
  6. Like you say Gary it's fine for the TO to recommend several contractor at a 1st visit if no 1 has been appointed to carry out the work as hopefully by doing so the work would be carried out to a standard that everyone would be satisfied with. But as I said when I'm acting as agent and have already 'won' the work for them to suggest another is just bad practice as it makes them think I'm not a good choice. I strongly believe as a local authority employee they should not influence a client unless it's not in the interest of the trees on bad recommendation reasons or bad work specs.
  7. I started with a rg13 which I tackled some fairly big stumps with and then hired in bigger if needed (selling it soon) it's not been out since getting a hb20 which is far ahead in what it can do but also a lump more money. The little predator is quite good and quite aggressive for its size and easy to transport.
  8. Got the inline 190 coming on Thursday for a demo and see how we get on with that.
  9. Poisonous ones ;-)
  10. The TO or the contractor she obviously fancies ;-)
  11. Occasionally get that round here too which is particularly crap when I've submitted the application as agent and she suggests getting another price from.......... As he'd bound to be cheaper > Hopefully one day I'll get her the sack!!
  12. Nobody? Guess it's hafords with a bit to color match then..
  13. How come you can put a 1928 on a slew ring but not a 190 in the same way, won't be as sleek as a bigger quadchip but will fill that space, just a thought...
  14. Polishing his helmet and ride, must be lady's on the horizon ;-) Got inside info last night so this could be a good weekend for the thred. As he says watch this space.
  15. That's a very early 222 similar to my project machine but without the hopper upgrade to required h & s standards also missing engine cover, I'd be careful advertising it as a fully working machine as could fall foul is some fool feeds themselves in, better to advertise as a project or as working machine for parts or upgrade.
  16. The smack in the gonads is always a strange 1, normally happens when your somewhere you can't sware so end up laughing through the pain like when collecting my little lad from nursery he runs out all happy to see me and nuts me in the nuts, instantly floored infront of a room full of mothers with nothing to do but curl into a ball and laugh while tears filled my eyes.
  17. Last time I had to do 1 I dropped lucky with a low milage box from a disco that had met a unhappy demise so was actually a good purchase.
  18. That a big birch rich, don't see many of that size round here.
  19. Not good at all, putting recon stuff in or getting new? Those little cogs must get some pain round your way with narrow twisting roads up and down the box a lot towing as well. How many miles has she covered? Just done a complete fluid change on the cherrypicker to make sure all fluids are as good as they can be to hopefully stave off the same needing to be done any time soon.
  20. Starter cord snapped on the 66 once and managed to punch myself in the face and split my lip wide open against my teeth, not funny at the time
  21. Typical just got my two boxes delivered today for a job next week for nearly twice the price.
  22. It's the demand from biomass driving up the price of small softwood.
  23. Yes peatff they are way cooler (daughters words) like the idea that they have had a life before and truly unique, like the bags.
