  1. I think the only time I've come across a problem with the hb20 is when I was trying to get between a garage and a fence, the grinder fitted no problem but had hardly any room to swing the handles and couldn't see a thing infant, managed though!
  2. Bit of a call out today, it was cracking and hung when it was called in but thankfully for us had made it to the ground by the time we got on site.
  3. Reeth, might be room on the stand if you fancy bringing your big toy along. August bank holiday Monday.
  4. Always interesting to see what success people get from shows and how they make the stand interesting. Doing our 1st 1 in August presenting the tree work and equipment. Always after presentation tips or tricks.
  5. Getting to that time of year when village, town or county shows are cropping up so any one who's put themselves on show to the public let's see some pictures.
  6. Please not you in a mankiny my eyes would be scared forever:-P
  7. If they are subbys and good regular one's why not offer to go halves on it with them, that's what I did with 1 recently with his climbing ticket. Probably wouldn't call it training on the paperwork but femilyrisation (prob not spelt correct) of the machine and use afag guide as checklist.
  8. I think so but should the proverbial hit the fan the question of whether you have any formal training might be asked. You could deliver a tool box training talk with a combination of manufacturers handbook and the afag guide as a basis. How many staff? Only ask as if you are friends with any other companies localy you could get together and get an independent trainer in for a day to deliver a Lanta course which if there's say 6 shouldn't cost that much per bod and will definitely satisfy and insurance or site inspection.
  9. Will have a good look tomorrow but I don't think it is.
  10. It'll do it but you will have to alter the blow out on the winch or fit a 2nd circuit, also worth looking at fitting a small oil cooler into the system somewhere as I've found after about 20min the oil can get very hot due to the tank only being small. Why not spend a bit more and look at the 1 from Rico like mine then you have a recognized make with some comeback also that 1 has a very small footplate that will drive you mad. Get some picks up when you do it.
  11. This big thing came to visit my grinder today.
  12. Getting it in would have been fine but eating the wrought iron fence part grown into it might not have gone down too well!
  13. About 6hr I think, about 30ltrs of fuel but luckily only found 1 stone of any size so teeth are still good.
  14. Don't know what you mean Mike, total coincidence I've hung my cap on that handy control leaver. ;-)
  15. Nice hanging branch for the boys to sort which I tackled this monster beech stump, before you say cut it down lower I tried and blunted every big saw I had within seconds! Removed about 6m3 of grindings, hard going shoveling in this heat! And had this big critter come land on the grinder.
  16. I had spotted that Jensen and a lovely gravely chipper on eBay, it's a gamble with older machines with no warranty. Cost of repairs is 1 thing but downtime is far more costly in reality especially since we get a lot of time sensitive jobs that might have taken months to book for a road closure so reliability and back up is playing a big part in what I decided to do at the moment.
  17. To be fair the forst is looking good Ian. Would love to go for a bandit 90xp but a lump more money and 2.2ton to drag round all the time. In an ideal world I'd have a big 9" machine and keep the quadchip but don't have the money for that.
  18. Like you say Gary it's fine for the TO to recommend several contractor at a 1st visit if no 1 has been appointed to carry out the work as hopefully by doing so the work would be carried out to a standard that everyone would be satisfied with. But as I said when I'm acting as agent and have already 'won' the work for them to suggest another is just bad practice as it makes them think I'm not a good choice. I strongly believe as a local authority employee they should not influence a client unless it's not in the interest of the trees on bad recommendation reasons or bad work specs.
  19. I started with a rg13 which I tackled some fairly big stumps with and then hired in bigger if needed (selling it soon) it's not been out since getting a hb20 which is far ahead in what it can do but also a lump more money. The little predator is quite good and quite aggressive for its size and easy to transport.
  20. Got the inline 190 coming on Thursday for a demo and see how we get on with that.
  21. The TO or the contractor she obviously fancies ;-)
