  1. I have to say, given their customer service, greenmech have the edge and I would put them at the top of the list for when I need a new chipper
  2. Did have some council residents that backed on to a new development trying to stop Mr removing a sycamore. Lots of abuse, shouting, but the threat from one guy of grabbing my rope and yanking me out of the tree was enough for the homeowner to call the police, who attended and advised that if that if that sort of threat was made again he would be arrested. While they were dealing with it, we cracked on. And a month later, planted a mature birch in its place
  3. Spot on. I think this shows his wife's insecurities up more than anything. Has this guy perhaps played away in the past and she is now on high alert for any potential risk? There will be other jobs. Shame
  4. That sounds good. Can he router out two key way recesses do you know?
  5. It handy to have it on file for future quotes
  6. Worse. Snapped. Its 50mm steel. Pictures will go onto the fings wot broke thread eventually
  7. Ah. Ok. I might know somewhere nearby, I dont think he cam do a cad drawing though, but will check
  8. Any of you helpful chaps know of a reverse engineer? No, nit talking about someone that specialises in reverse gears, but basically I need some part manufactured for an obsolete machine. I can go back to the manufacturer, but they will insist I buy 10 and charge an exorbitant amount. It's basically a shaft, milled, with some sunken threads in the end, and a couple of cut outs for some key ways. I was told there are people out there who if you send them what's required, not only can they copy it, but also produce cad drawings. I did get drawings off the manufacturer for some things, but they are now point blank refusing to give me any more, I think they are frightened to death I might start building the machine and selling them myself!
  9. That sounds more like a solenoid failure. Worth calling fleettip for advice
  10. Has this got a scatolini tipper? If so, jihad the same issue on my cabstar. It would come down so far and just stop, I could jump up,and down in the back and it would eventually go down. I had scatollini come out to it to fit a new ram in the end, but when he inspected it, he realised the bearings at the bottom of the ram were seized. The base of this needs to move back and forth as the angle of the ram changes, and as it was jammed, it stopped it going down. Lots of lubrication and moving back end forth freed it. It's actually a sealed bearing so was somewhat surprising that it had happened!
  11. I have an eliet, super prof 2000. Yes, it works on the axe principle, cutting along the grain. It's a fantastic machine, until that very last piece of wood goes in the rollers sideways, then it jams! Mine discharges onto a hydraulic conveyor, so it will wither load the truck or make a neat pile of chips. Less mess than a blower style discharge. New ones have an axeleron discharge, it's like a blower without the power required.
  12. FITNATE Professional Digital Tachometer, Non Contact Digital Laser Photo Tachometer RPM Tach: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools WWW.AMAZON.CO.UK FITNATE Professional Digital Tachometer, Non Contact Digital Laser Photo Tachometer RPM Tach: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools I brought one of these for my crushers. Evertime I replace an engine, i have to set the max revs to 2200 down from the 2600 they are set at. You basically put one of the stickers they give you into the flywheel, then point the laser at it when running to give the rpm. Not sure what rpm it should run at though. Timberwolf might help
  13. Buy a fault code reader. Mine came from aldi, cost £30, but not only does it come with a list of all,the fault codes, but you can clear it off the truck, enabling you to at least get home under normal power
  14. That's my thinking. I cant see my tiled floor catching alight as a result!
  15. Not required to use a hetas installer. I did get this signed off by building control, who did nothing more than to poke his head round the door, and say "yes that looks ok", without even checking the air vent, carbon monoxide detector or safe distance from the window!
  16. So when I installed my stove in my conservatory, I used this Indian stone slab underneath for the fire to sit on. It's a actually a nuisance, and I am wondering if I really need it? Why can the fire sit straight on the tiled floor? I will need to make some feet up the same thickness as the slab to go under each corner so the stove sits it the same height, but any other problems?
  17. My mates one keeps having problems with the brake, som the machine moves while grinding. He complained to predator, and they admitted they were crap. They have no intentions of sorting the issue. I wouldn't buy one
  18. My truck failed once, could plug the centre lap belt in as it was trapped. Tow bar obscuring the number plate. Tow bar was put on at the factory like that, where else could it go. And I got in an pulled the seatbelt out from behind the seat quite successfully. Different mot place next year never noticed the tow bar issue
  19. Mate had a similar adblue problem on his cabstar. Engine light came on. Local garage cancelled the light. It came back on just as he went to his mot test station, they passed it but told him to sort it. So, with no Nissan dealer willing to even look at at, it went to an independent garage, who are Nissan approved( and can do warranty work) first they thought it was a blocked adblue pipe. , vehicle collected, half a mile from home, the light came on again. Back it went. This time they replaced the adblue injectorno joy. Then they e Replaced the adblue pump. Sorted. All under warranty, and had it not been, they quoted £8000. These adblue systems are not all, they are cracked up to be!
  20. Yep. And also, I was looking for one for a job coming up soon, found four within the area I will be working, all free except one trying to charge over load. They get ignored!
  21. Out of interest, check the pipe coming out of the tank doesn't have some sort of restriction. I had a virtually identical problem on a kubot digger once, and there was gunk built up at the tank outlet. Filter didn't show this problem. Once I had cleaned this out, it was ok
  22. What sad news. A good contributor on here. How old was he?
