  1. I'm taking it that this was a domestic customer paying out of his own pocket? You can't win with them all - there's nowt as strange as folk as I'm sure you would all agree! I would, however, agree with the crown lift and canopy thin as opposed to a complete reduction for the health of the tree.
  2. Just purchased my tickets too. There may be a late rush and we break the 3.5k barrier. Late nights for Mr. Bullman me thinks!
  3. Better late than never - tickets purchased! Hope this doesn't cause you too much stress Steve. Good luck to all Arbtalkers who entered.
  4. Quality Used Land Rovers, land rover 110 models Have a look at the above. They have a good stock of all things Landy.
  5. 124. Excellent! Better than golf!!
  6. Plippy's photo reminds me of the younger lads at college who would swagger into the canteen on practical days fully decked out in harnesses and as much bling as they could attatch in the misguided belief that they looked the muts nuts!
  7. I've got a pair of Sealskinz cycling gloves - the one with gel padding on the palms - that I actually use for winter hill walking. I bought these whilst on the eternal quest for "waterproof" gloves that actually are waterproof! The best I've found so far for their weight but I don't think they would be much use for tree work and I definately wouldn't want to climb in them; karabiner handling would be a nightmare.
  8. My three year old Border Terrier munched down some of these little chaps last week;leading to a very interesting 48 hours! She went through all the symptoms described by Dean including puking and pooing all over the car and hallway. Not too bad you may be thinking but when she zig-zagged down the garden to vomit yet again my new addition,a one year Patterdale, swiftly hoovered it up and away with the fairies she went! Repeat the above minus the car luckily. Both came back from the Dark Side and are now hopefully a little more enlightened!
  9. He actually needed the logs to get a fire going so he could burn that jumper!
  10. That's got me drooling like a bloodhound John; even though I'm stuffed from tonight meal and beverages!
  11. All good over here mate. Thanks for the message. How's work?

  12. I bought the Vertex Vent with the Stihl attatchments. Like the visor action but really struggle closing the ear defenders;these also feel flimsy compared to the Husky ones I've had previously. Think I'll be switching to Sordin or Peltor's. I want chipper suitable ear defenders so what do you knowledgable people recommend?

Good on ya fella! You didn't say who assessed you though.

Hi Joe; Take on board all the advise already given and don't be flippant about reading the NPTC schedule-all the answers are there for you-it's a simple case of memorising them. Another point-when you are actually performing the rescue be sure to give loud and clear verbal instructions to the groundie i.e. "have you contacted emergency services?" along with positve encouragement for the person being rescued.Remember this is role play. Who you got assessing you?
  16. Evening; I work with a guy who is a Loler inspector, based in Warwick but does travel further than Gloucs regularly. If you still need your kit checked just let me know and I can p.m. you his details.
  17. Classic tunage! Missed out on the original scene due to my age but there seems to be a strong underground following and definately still popular with my scooterist friends. Keep the faith.
  18. If I lived in Somerset and needed work I would grab the opportunity to get in even a day's labour - regardless of what it entailed. Some people out there should remember that they are not selling themselves short but actually expanding their future employment potential. It makes you
  19. Up at 5.30. Half an hour into the drive to job. Job called off until tomorrow. Half hour drive back home. Back on the paint brushes in the hallway!
  20. Very true. Only takes a couple of minutes to help the little fellas out. Out there first thing this morning with suet cake and more importantly a kettle of boiling water to defrost the bird bath.
  21. Dean Lofthouse catches his log thief!
  22. My first record buy was "The bucket of water song" by The Phantom Flan Flingers (I think!?) - the guys from T.I.S.W.A.S. - someone must remember this? Reckon I was about seven or eight years old. Hundreds and hundreds of vinyls, cassettes and C.D's later and I've just order The Smiths back catalogue for the second time around. Where do C.D's sneak off to?
  23. Jeepers! This thread title gave me a right shock - I know a fellow arborist called Morph and I hadn't heard the news about Tony Hart! As said he was a top bloke of 70's and 80's kids T.V.
  24. Better late than never.......a very worthy cause. C'mon guys and gals sell your boring Christmas gift vouchers and give, give, give! Thanks to Steve for organising too:congrats:
  25. Danny, I think it's the largest ancient oak woodland in the country. It's took areal battering from the floods over the last couple of years. Did you notice the high amount of natural oak regen?
